HomeMy WebLinkAbout05.1 Town of Danville Transportation Response 022426 DATE: February 24, 2026 TO: David Crompton, Chief of Planning FROM: Allan Shields, Transportation Manager; Soren Fajeau, P.E., Traffic Engineering Associate SUBJECT: DEV 25-02 DANVILLE VILLAGE APARTMENTS; RESPONSE TO COMMENTS RECEIVED FEBRUARY 24, 2026, REGARDING PROJECT TRANSPORTATION IMPACT STUDY The Transportation Division has reviewed the comment letter to the Danville Planning Commission received from Mr. Alan Kalin on February 24, 2026, pertaining to the Danville Village Apartments Project Transportation Impact Study. The letter from Mr. Kalin states that while the ITS operational analysis is thorough, the study does not analyze off-site multimodal safety. First, the project will result in an estimated net reduction of 442 vehicular trips per day when compared to expected vehicular trips for prior commercial use. As a result of the significant reductions in overall vehicular traffic volume, the potential conflict exposure for bicyclists and pedestrians with vehicles will decrease accordingly. Secondly, the letter references total accidents throughout the Town over the 8 year period, not the project specific location. The intersections of San Ramon Valley Boulevard (SRVB) and Town & Country Drive, the intersection of SRVB & Sycamore Valley Road, and the project frontage/driveways on SRVB were listed as concerns. Based on available data of reported accidents between January 1, 2017, and January 31, 2026, there were no bicycle or pedestrian collisions at either the SRVB and Town & County Drive intersection or at the SRVB and Sycamore Valley Road intersection. There were no bicycle and pedestrian accidents on the Town & County Drive project frontage. There were two vehicle-on-bicycle accidents during this time period on San Ramon Valley Boulevard along the Town and Country Shopping Center frontage. In addition, during the January 1, 2017 – January 31, 3026 period referenced, bicycle infrastructure has been added along San Ramon Valley Boulevard as part of the Bicycle Master Plan.
