To Danville Planning Commission: We have resided behind the Livery and Mercantile center since 1990, and are not at all supportive of the new apartment building being proposed. I have written two letters to Mr. Crompton since we have learned of this plan, and wish to once again express my continuing concern regarding its size and surrounding traffic/parking issues. Traffic/parking: When coming from/going to downtown, we drive or walk down Town and Country Drive. At any time of day, there are parked cars all along both sides of the street and it is often difficult to traverse. The addition of 200+ more cars will exacerbate the traffic issue for the area, as well as complicate the driveway access points for the remaining retail areas. And, most likely the new residents will have more cars than the underground parking can accommodate. I would expect that residents will be parking in the (reduced number of) spots allocated for the remaining gym (of which I am a member) and for the surrounding businesses and stores, in addition to on Town and Country Drive. Height of the building: A four story apartment building will be a visual eyesore for our neighborhood. I still believe that a two to three story building is more appropriate for the neighborhood/surrounding area both visually and density-wise. Plan for remaining building: I joined the original gym at the Town and Country location when it opened (after the Vietnamese restaurant closed) and have maintained a gym membership at each of the businesses since (Pinnacle, Bally’s, Danville Fit, Fitness 19, etc) and wish to understand the future plan for that building. How long will it remain? Can the proposed parking accommodate the membership and remaining businesses’ needs? 2 I look forward to learning how my concerns have been addressed at the February 24, 2026 meeting.
