February 15, 2026 RE: I Support looking into cannabis retail in Danville Dear Mayor and Members of the Town Council, I am writing to respectfully express my support for the Town continuing to explore what regulated cannabis retail could look like in the community. I live in Walnut Creek but come frequently to Danville to shop at America’s Finest Hemp Company. I also usually visit other shops and restaurants in Danville. Often, however, the impetus for the day is coming to the hemp store. Often, I will also shop at Lunardi”s on my visits. For nearly five years, America’s Finest Hemp Co. operated responsibly in downtown Danville, serving adults and contributing positively to the local economy. The recent changes under AB 8 and related state regulations did not occur because of safety failures. Rather, the State chose to move hemp-derived cannabinoid products into the more tightly regulated cannabis retail framework to create a more controlled and standardized environment. In other words, the regulatory shift was intended to increase oversight and safety — not to eliminate responsible local businesses. Additionally, many adults responsibly choose cannabis products as an alternative to more dangerous substances such as: • Prescription opioid pain medications • Sleep medications • Anxiety medications • Alcohol I personally use hemp products to help with my Rheumatoid Arthritis symptoms instead of taking any common pain relievers. I feel it is a more natural way to address my problems. If America’s Finest Hemp Company leaves Danville permanently and sets up shop in another neighboring community, I will most likely shop where they relocate. Please consider adjusting Danville’s cannabis regulations to allow this family owned company to continue to do business in the community. 1 I respectfully encourage the Town Council to continue exploring a regulated cannabis retail framework so that responsible local businesses like America’s Finest Hemp Co. have a path forward under the new state laws. Thank you for your time and consideration. Beverly Callister 902 Cortina Court Walnut Creek, CA 94598 bevcall@aol.com 2
