October 19, 2025
The Honorable Renee Morgan, Mayor
Town of Danville
500 La Gonda Way
Danville, CA 94526
Subject:
Support for Licensed Dispensaries in Danville
Dear Mayor Morgan and Members of the Town Council,
I am writing as a Danville resident to urge the Town Council to allow licensed dispensaries to
operate locally. Under California’s AB8 law, hemp-derived wellness products—once readily
available in town—can now only be sold by licensed dispensaries. Limiting access locally would
disproportionately affect residents with limited mobility or medically restricted transportation,
forcing them to seek products elsewhere.
Hemp-derived compounds, including CBD and THC, offer important benefits for many
conditions. They may relieve nerve-related pain, reduce muscle stiffness, ease chemotherapy-
related nausea, and support improvements in sleep, mood, and inflammation. Often, they carry
fewer side effects than conventional medications, making them a valuable alternative or
complement for residents seeking personalized relief.
Licensed dispensaries provide clear advantages:
Safe, regulated access to trusted wellness products.
Support for long-standing local businesses, preserving jobs and stimulating the local
economy.
Compliance with state law, ensuring residents can continue to access these products
safely and legally.
While the term “dispensary” may sound concerning, it simply reflects a state-required business
model. Danville residents can continue to enjoy the products and service they trust, within a safe
and regulated framework.
I respectfully urge the Council to consider allowing licensed dispensaries so that both residents
and local businesses can thrive under California’s updated regulations.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
Sincerely,
Robert G. Lanier, PhD
