We are Hugh and Karen Levenson and we've enjoyed the quality of life that the council has made possible. We've been here since October 1989. We are writing with input for the upcoming study session about Marijuana Retail in Danville. We urge you to keep the current prohibition in place. Danville is a town where the status quo is not a problem — it's a strength. Many cities consider cannabis retail because they need revenue, revitalization, or new economic activity. Danville does not. Our position — "It's not broken, so why fix it?" — This is not only reasonable, it aligns with: • Danville's current safety ranking • The town's established, family -friendly identity • The preferences of many long-term residents • The lack of any unmet need that cannabis retail would address In a community like Danville, where schools, youth sports, and family -centered activities are core to daily life, the presence of retail cannabis storefronts also raises an additional concern: normalization of use among youth. Increased visibility of cannabis outlets can make marijuana seem routine or expected, which may unintentionally encourage experimentation among teens and pre -teens. For a town that places such a high value on protecting its family-oriented environment, this risk carries meaningful weight. In short: The potential benefits exist, but they are marginal for Danville. The potential downsides — especially to community character, perceived safety, and the risk of normalizing marijuana use for youth — carry more weight here than in most towns. Thank you for taking this time to read our thoughts. Sincerely, Hugh and Karen Levenson 95 Blue Rock Court Danville, CA 94526 2
