RE: Maintaining the Prohibition of Cannabis Retail Sales in Danville
Dear Mayor Arnerich,
As a resident of Danville, I am writing to strongly urge you and the Town Council to
maintain the current prohibition on cannabis retail dispensaries within our town limits.
Our community’s high quality of life is built on its family-oriented atmosphere and safe
downtown environment, both of which would be significantly compromised by allowing
the commercial sale of cannabis.
We already face serious challenges regarding youth alcohol use in our town. Adding
local access to cannabis retail would only exacerbate the substance use issues facing
our young people. Furthermore, I am deeply concerned about the impact on our
downtown character. Danville is known for its beautiful outdoor dining and walkable
streets. The presence of cannabis retail often leads to public consumption nearby; the
resulting odors and change in atmosphere would directly conflict with the charm of our
local restaurants and the family-friendly experience our downtown currently offers.

I am aware that Danville currently prohibits marijuana dispensaries in all zones. I ask
that you continue to prioritize our town’s safety and unique character by blocking any
path toward allowing these businesses to operate here.
Thank you for your leadership and for your dedication to keeping Danville the safest
community in California.
