HomeMy WebLinkAbout121625-05.1 PROCLAMATION OF RECOGNITION HONORING SENG LOVAN WHEREAS, Seng Lovan began her distinguished career with the Danville Library on October 6, 2003, serving first as Librarian, and through her leadership and dedication, moved on to the Branch Librarian position, Senior Branch Librarian, and on December 2, 2007, became the Senior Community Library Manager; and WHEREAS, throughout her entire tenure, Seng has faithfully served the Danville Library and its community, demonstrating her commitment to public service, advancing literacy, learning, and connection; and WHEREAS, Seng has been a valued and active member of the Expanded Access Task Team and the Strategic Planning Task Team, contributing to efforts to improve access to library services countywide, advance equity, and develop actionable steps toward achieving the library’s Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion goals; and WHEREAS, Seng has significantly expanded Danville’s multilingual collections of Spanish, Chinese, and Farsi, ensuring the library remains responsive to its readers’ needs and collaborated with Danville staff to create cultural programs that are reflective of and celebrate the community’s rich cultural diversity; and WHEREAS, Seng has generously shared her expertise through her work on the Mentorship Committee, through her support of new managers as a founding member of the New Manager Training Pilot Program launched in 2017 and working closely with the Adult/Teen Librarian preparing him to lead the branch’s Teen Advisory Board and the Insiders’ Program for teens and adults with intellectual or developmental disabilities; and WHEREAS, Seng’s integrity, empathy, and professionalism have created a positive, inclusive work environment. Her calm, respectful leadership, strong ethical principles, and dedication to equitable service have earned her the trust and admiration of colleagues and community members alike; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, that we do hereby recognize and honor Seng Lovan for her exceptional leadership, unwavering commitment, and extraordinary contributions to the Danville community and the Contra Costa County Library system. Her Years of service stand as a testament to the profound impact of public libraries and the dedicated professionals who lead them.
