These services include routine maintenance, inspections, emergency response to outages, and equipment repairs to maintain compliance with state and local standards. DISCUSSION The FY 2024/25 Operating Budget initially appropriated $241,500 for traffic signal maintenance. Invoices totaling $89,682 for services performed by the Contra Costa County Public Works Department in April, May, and June 2025 were received late and initially lacked proper supporting documentation, delaying their processing. Upon review and receipt of complete documentation, the invoices were validated. A total invoiced amount of $45,922 was attributed to services provided as part of capital improvement projects, leaving an outstanding balance of $43,760 to be paid from the FY 2024/25 Traffic Signal Maintenance budget. With only $11,460 remaining in the budget, a shortfall of $32,300 exists to cover these costs. The increased costs are due to higher labor and material expenses incurred by the Contra Costa County Public Works Department, an increase of services required during CIP projects, and the complexity of maintaining aging traffic signal infrastructure. The FY 2024/25 budget did not anticipate these escalated costs, necessitating a budget amendment to address the shortfall. Amending the FY2024/25 2 September 16, 2025 Traffic Signal Maintenance Operating Budget FISCAL IMPACT Expenditure of $32,300 for traffic signal maintenance is required to cover the shortfall for services provided by the Contra Costa County Public Works Department. It is recommended that $32,300 be appropriated from the Gas Tax Fund Traffic Signal Maintenance Program to cover the shortfall.
