Hi Marie:
The general safety issues with E-Bikes and their speeds is very concerning. These E-Bikes
have developed into something that few envisioned just a few years ago. But what is
especially concerning is that we're allowing them on our sidewalks and in the residential areas.
The speeds that they travel at and the way that they're are operated is terrifying to pedestrians.
Danville has done a great job providing bike lanes (thank you). ALL bikes should be in the bike
lanes. Sidewalks are for walking thus the name! Please implement rules and regulations to
protect all from a serious injury or fatality.
Vehicle Speed Enforcement - Danville well over two years ago purchased portable radar
operated signs that were mobile and would record vehicle speeds and the time of day. Those
signs were then able to provide data to our PD on the need for enforcement. What has
happened to those signs as I never see them anymore?
Zone 3 Traffic Enforcement - We are in dire need of speed enforcement on Camino Tassajara
from Tassajara Ranch Rd to Diablo Vista Middle School. The speeds in both East and West
bound directions is routinely excessive. In those areas I have stood there on many occasions
and watched the fixed radar signs and the speeds noted is outrageous. I urge you to pull data
on this stretch to see the number of citations written over the last few years vs. other areas of
Camino Tassajara and compare.
Thank you,
Gary J. Spinella
