We are direct neighbors of this project and share 200 feet of fence line on the south side. We are writing to you in full support of the appeal against The Ivy project (DEV24-0009). We welcome our new neighbors (OSI) and know the project is inevitable.
The request is to hit the pause button because of the truly unknown risks unless further testing is done first. Please use constraints and follow the recommendations of the stage agencies that recommend further testing to truly know the extent of the contamination. Facts include:
• 1995/2001 reports showing unaddressed toxins (TPH-G, BTEX, dieldrin).
• DTSC’s June 11/26 warnings of health risks near La Petite Academy and homes.
• O&I’s inadequate third-party plan ignoring DTSC oversight. We understand there have been previous efforts to clean up, but those were only restricted to certain areas. The limited testing in Phase 1 continues to show elevated levels of toxicity that is evidence the contamination is far greater than we all know. It's the logical and prudent thing to do to protect your citizens and ensure safety (which is what you were elected to do). Please overturn the approval for now, require an EIR, and ensure DTSC-led cleanup before construction begins. Thank you,
Jason and Kate Lenk 27 Betten Ct
