Dear Town Council Members,
As longtime residents of Danville and neighbors of th e Sloat Garden Center property on Diablo Road, we
are writing to express serious concerns about the proposed O&I Development senior living facility, known as The IVY.
Recent and historical soil tests conducted on the Slo at property have revealed elevated levels of
hazardous chemicals, including TPH-G, BTEX, and dieldri n—some of which date back to reports from
1995 and 2001 and remain unaddressed.
Despite these findings, O&I’s remediation plan fails t o meet appropriate environmental and safety
standards, notably by bypassing DTSC oversight and relyi ng on an insufficient third-party approach.
Given these facts, we support the appeal against The IV Y development. As a matter of public health and
safety, we respectfully urge the Town Council to:
• Overturn the current project approval;
• Require a full Environmental Impact Report (EIR)/Phase 2 Study; and
