HomeMy WebLinkAbout3.1 FINANCE COMMITTEE MEMORANDUM 3.1 TO: Mayor and Town Council June 27, 2025 SUBJECT: Authorize Execution of a Contract with Nazanin Shakerin for Transportation Consulting Services BACKGROUND Town’s Transportation Division ensures safe and efficient multi-modal travel throughout the Town. The Division addresses traffic congestion through local traffic management programs, reviews local development projects, engages in regional coordination and advocacy, and pursues transportation improvements and funding. It manages a network of traffic signals, flashing beacons, radar display signs, lighted crosswalks, signage, pavement markings, and bicycle and pedestrian facilities, while overseeing the Neighborhood Traffic Management Program (NTMP). The Town’s purchasing policy states that the Finance Committee is the awarding authority for all contracts exceeding $25,000. DISCUSSION During the 2024/25 fiscal year the Transportation Division retained Nazanin Shakerin Consulting for staff augmentation services. The Transportation Division is renewing the contract in the amount of $45,000 for fiscal year 2025/26. Nazanin Shakerin Consulting provides consulting on traffic impact analysis for new developments, traffic striping reviews, signal operations support, capital improvement projects and other transportation services as needed. RECOMMENDATION It is recommended that the Finance Committee authorize the execution of a contract not to exceed $45,000 with Nazanin Shakerin for the 2025/26 fiscal year. Sufficient funds have been appropriated in the 2025/26 Transportation operating budget.
