Parks, Recreation and Arts Commission and Arts Advisory Board Joint Regular Meeting SUMMARY OF ACTIONS March 12, 2025 1. CALL TO ORDER The joint regular meeting of the Danville Parks, Recreation and Arts Commission and Arts Advisory Board was called to order by Chair Neary at 6:30 p.m. in the Town Meeting Hall, 201 Front Street, Danville, CA. Present: Parks, Recreation and Arts Commission Addison Brown, Youth Representative Kevin Donovan, Commissioner Adam Falcon, Commissioner Jane Joyce, Commissioner (arrived at 6:33 p.m.) Joe Lindsey, Alternate Jenna Mesic, Commissioner Charles Neary, Chair Excused: Carol Mascali, Vice Chair Present: Arts Advisory Board Kim Bowles, Board Member Jane Joyce, Board Member (arrived at 6:33 p.m.) Charles Neary, Chair Scott Phillips, Board Member Mike White, Vice Chair Absent: Madeleine L Roytfeld, Youth Representative 2. ARTS ADVISORY BOARD ACTION ITEMS 4.1 Approval of the Summary of Actions from January 8, 2025, Arts Advisory Board Regular meeting. MOTION BY BOARD MEMBER BOWLES, SECOND BY VICE CHAIR WHITE, TO APPROVE THE SUMMARY OF ACTIONS FROM THE JANUARY 8, 2025, ARTS ADVISORY BOARD REGULAR MEETING. MOTION CARRIED 4-0-0-2; YOUTH REPRESENTATIVE ROYTFELD, BOARD MEMBER JOYCE ABSENT Commissioner/ Board Member Joyce arrived at 6:33 p.m. 5. PARKS, RECREATION AND ARTS COMMISSION ACTION ITEMS 5.1 Approval of the Summary of Actions from February 12, 2025, Parks, Recreation and Arts Commission Regular meeting. MOTION BY COMMISSIONER LINDSEY, SECOND BY COMMISSIONER MESIC, TO APPROVE THE SUMMARY OF ACTIONS FROM THE FEBRUARY 12, 2025, PARKS, RECREATION AND ARTS COMMISSION REGULAR MEETING. MOTION CARRIED 6-0-0-2; VICE CHAIR MASCALI, COMMISSIONER JOYCE ABSENT Commissioner/ Board Member Joyce arrived at 6:33 p.m. 6. PRESENTATIONS Docusign Envelope ID: 9C6658F1-ACF4-419A-BDD2-AA11829CC303 Parks, Recreation and Arts Commission and Arts Advisory Board Joint Meeting Summary of Actions March 12, 2025 Page 3 3 6.1 East Bay Regional Park District (EBRPD) update on projects and trails related to the Town of Danville EBRPD representative, Kim Thai, presented information about parks and trail projects in Danville including updates on Las Trampas Park, the future agricultural park at the Borel Property, Sycamore Valley Open Space Preserve, the Calaveras Ridge Regional Trail, and the Iron Horse Regional Trail. 6.2 Village Theatre Ticket Sales Maintenance Fee Discussion Recreation Superintendent, Jessica Wallner, presented the details of a potential maintenance fee to be added to ticket sales at the Village Theatre to contribute to maintenance needs and improvements of the facility. Discussion included a possible fee structure, and the types of improvement projects the fee could be used for. The Commission and Board were supportive of the potential fee and suggested a minimum of a two dollar fee. 6.3 Sycamore Valley Park Shade Structure Discussion Director, Henry Perezalonso, presented background information on the removal of the top of a shade structure at Sycamore Valley Park, along with possible replacement solutions. Discussion included the options of removal of remaining pillars, replacement of the shade structure, and the development of an art project utilizing the existing pillars. The Commission and Board provided feedback recommending the replacement of the shade structure with consideration for art as well. 7. REPORTS AND COMMUNICATIONS 7.1 Recreation, Arts and Community Services Director’s Report Director Perezalonso reported on Department activities and upcoming events. 7.2 Recruitment Announcement for 18 positions for Danville residents interested in volunteering.
