HomeMy WebLinkAbout052025-05.2DANVILL_ E • CALIFORNIA PROCLAMATION MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS MONTH - MAY 2025 PRESENTED TO BECKY ADAMS SAN RAMON VALLEY LEADERSHIP CLASS OF 2025 WHEREAS, mental health is essential to our overall health, and prioritizing mental health and wellness can lead to higher overall productivity, better educational outcomes, lower crime rates, stronger economies, and improved quality of life; and WHEREAS, according to the Centers for Disease Control, mental illnesses are among the most common health conditions in the United States, with nearly one in four U.S. adults living with a mental health condition, and one in seven children (ages 3-17) having a current, diagnosed mental or behavioral health condition; and WHEREAS, discrimination against those with mental health conditions in our society remains, which can make it difficult to find and reach out for help; and WHEREAS, with early and effective treatment, those individuals with mental illnesses can recover and lead full, productive lives; and WHEREAS, mental health recovery not only benefits individuals with mental health disorders by focusing on their abilities to live, work, learn and fully participate and contribute to our society, but also enriches the culture Of our community life; and WHEREAS, each business, school, government agency, healthcare provider, organization and citizen share the burden of mental illness and have a responsibility to promote mental wellness and support prevention efforts; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, that the Danville Town Council does hereby proclaim the month of May 2025 as Mental Health Awareness Month in the Toznn of Danville.
