The parks continue to be vibrant spaces for recreation and community connection. This month focused
on meticulous maintenance and improvements across multiple parks. With the annual field moratorium
coming to an end and sports fields re-opening, special attention has been given to field preparations -
including flagging base pegs, adding field mix to infields and coordinating with contractors for field
renovations - ensuring sports facilities are ready for little league/softball and community use. The
Canine Corral dog park at Hap Magee Ranch Park has also re-opened for furry friends. The team has
also consistently maintained walkways, playgrounds and BBQ areas, keeping these spaces clean and
inviting for families and visitors.
Significant effort was invested in park beautification. This includes pruning numerous trees, refinishing
picnic tables and ensuring playground areas remain safe and appealing.
Safety remains a top priority across all
parks and facilities. Rigorous
playground safety inspections were
conducted at multiple locations,
including Hap Magee Ranch Park as
well as Montair and Green Valley
Elementary Schools. The team
promptly addresses any maintenance
issues to ensure security and comfort.
First aid kits were replenished at the
Cottage, Swain House and Magee
House at Hap Magee Ranch Park.
Infrastructure is systematically
checked and repaired, from
drinking fountains to signs,
ensuring every park area meets
high safety standards. Regular
tasks like removing silt fencing,
clearing straw wattle and
addressing potential hazards
demonstrate the Town’s
proactive approach to safety
and park maintenance.

Environmental stewardship continues to guide park management strategies. Water-conscious practices
have been implemented, such as turning off irrigation during rainy periods and conducting thorough
irrigation system checks. At Sycamore Valley Park, erosion control was addressed by removing straw
wattle and cleaning storm drains, protecting the park's ecological integrity.
Town maintenance extends beyond basic upkeep. Irrigation
systems have been repaired, broken components replaced and
efficient water management has been ensured. Tree and
landscape maintenance included pruning trees in parking lots,
along fence lines and in recreational areas. These careful
interventions support local ecosystems while maintaining the
parks' aesthetic and functional qualities.
