HomeMy WebLinkAbout031225 Presentation EBRPD Update to DanvilleEAST BAY REGIONAL PARK DISTRICT UPDATES TOWN OF DANVILLE –PARKS, RECREATION & ARTS COMMISSION MEETING PRESENTATION BY KIM THAI | MARCH 12, 2025 6.1 East Bay Regional Park District Mission: The East Bay Regional Park District preserves a rich heritage of natural and cultural resources and provides open space, parks, trails, safe and healthful recreation and environmental education. An environmental ethic guides the District in all of its activities. EBRPD comprises 73 parks spanning across 126,809 acres (1,330 miles of trails) in Alameda and Contra Costa counties. EBRPD District Plan •First comprehensive Districtwide planning effort since 1973. •Will work with the Board, staff, and the community in evaluating priorities and challenges. •Assess how to balance expanding parklands, protecting habitat, providing access, and responding to emerging challenges such as climate change •Establish priorities that will guide staffs workplan, legislative agenda, grant procurement, and potential future funding initiatives for the foreseeable future EBRPD PARKLANDS & TRAILS IN DANVILLE AND VICINITY Parks Las Trampas Borel Sycamore Valley Morgan Territory Trails Calaveras Ridge Trail Iron Horse Trail LAS TRAMPAS 1.Ball Estates staging area ➢Status – Approved as part of developer’s project 2.Podva Walk-in Entrance and Heritage Pear Trail ➢Status – Open for public access 3.Southern Las Trampas – Staging area and trail connections ➢Status – Undergoing permitting 1 2 3 BOREL AGRICULTURAL PARK 1.Feasibility studies 2.Community Engagement 3.Schematic Design Options 4.CEQA Documentation MAGEE PRESERVE SYCAMORE VALLEY 3.5 miles of multi-use trails for public access from Sycamore Valley and Diablo Road Additional 2 miles of non-EBRPD public trails Anticipated opening for public access: Summer 2025 FINLEY RANCH PROPERTY MORGAN TERRITORY Acquired 768 acres in coordination with Save Mount Diablo in 2023 Future planning needed
