East Bay Regional Park District
Mission:
The East Bay Regional Park District
preserves a rich heritage of natural and
cultural resources and provides open
space, parks, trails, safe and healthful
recreation and environmental education.
An environmental ethic guides the
District in all of its activities.
EBRPD comprises 73 parks spanning
across 126,809 acres (1,330 miles of
trails) in Alameda and Contra Costa
counties.
EBRPD District Plan
•First comprehensive Districtwide planning effort
since 1973.
•Will work with the Board, staff, and the community in
evaluating priorities and challenges.
•Assess how to balance expanding parklands,
protecting habitat, providing access, and responding to
emerging challenges such as climate change
•Establish priorities that will guide staffs workplan,
legislative agenda, grant procurement, and potential
future funding initiatives for the foreseeable future
