CALL TO ORDER The regular meeting of the Senior Advisory Commission was called to order by Chair Foster at 4:00 pm. Present: Roxanne Foster, Chair Sandra Moody, Vice Chair Jim Donnelly, Commissioner Steven Freshman, Commissioner Candace Hendra, Commissioner 2. CHANGES TO THE ORDER OF THE AGENDA Henry Perezalonso requested to move Item 6.1, Discovery Counseling Center Presentation, to the first item on the agenda and then continue with Item 4.1. 3. "FOR THE GOOD OF THE TOWN" There were no speakers. 6. COMMUNICATION – (Presented prior to item 4.) 6.1 Discovery Counseling Center Presentation Sumita Bhandari, Executive Director and Beverly Davis, LMFT, presented a comprehensive, detailed history of the Discovery Counseling Center from its founding through today and outlined the services that the organization provides in the community. 4. CONSENT CALENDAR October 22, 2024 Page 2 2 4.1 Consider the approval of the Summary of Actions from the April 24, 2024 Senior Advisory Commission Regular meeting. MOTION BY COMMISSIONER DONNELLY, SECOND BY COMMISSIONER HENDRA, TO APPROVE THE SUMMARY OF ACTIONS OF THE APRIL 24, 2024 SENIOR ADVISORY COMMISSION MEETING MOTION CARRIED: 5-0 5. ADMINISTRATIVE STAFF REPORTS 5.1 Selection of the Senior Advisory Commission Chair MOTION BY COMMISSIONER FRESHMAN, SECOND BY COMMISSIONER HENDRA, TO SELECT COMMISSIONER MOODY AS CHAIR OF THE SENIOR ADVISORY COMMISSION FOR TERM ENDING 7/31/2025 MOTION CARRIED: 5-0 5.2 Selection of Senior Advisory Commission Vice-Chair MOTION BY COMMISSIONER MOODY, SECOND BY CHAIR FOSTER, TO SELECT COMMISSIONER DONNELLY AS VICE-CHAIR OF THE SENIOR ADVISORY COMMISSION FOR TERM ENDING 7/31/2025 MOTION CARRIED: 5-0 5.3 Consider approval of Senior Advisory Commission meeting dates for 2025 The Commissioners approved the meeting dates for 2025 as presented. MOTION BY COMMISSIONER FRESHMAN, SECOND BY COMMISSIONER MOODY, TO APPROVE THE SENIOR ADVISORY COMMISSION MEETING DATES FOR 2025 MOTION CARRIED: 5-0 October 22, 2024 Page 3 3 5.4 Designation of Senior Advisory Commission Liaison and Subcommittee Assignments The Commissioners discussed the various Town of Danville Commission liaison roles and Sub-committee liaison assignments and selected their preferences Henry Perezalonso recommended that suggestions and ideas for further conversation can be brought up in a workshop prior to the next October 24, 2024 meeting. MOTION BY COMMISSIONER DONNELLY, SECOND BY COMMISSIONER MOODY, TO APPROVE THE COMMISSIONER LIAISON AND SUBCOMMITTEE ASSIGNMENTS AS PRESENTED MOTION CARRIED: 5-0 5.5 Age-Friendly Roadmap Implementation Potential Projects Discussion Henry Perezalonso reported that two specific items introduced at the April 24, 2024 Senior Advisory Commission meeting were the Diablo Vista Park playground renovation which could include a fitness area, and wayfinding signage to the Senior Center within the downtown area. The Commission elected to not make a motion at this time regarding the Diablo Vista fitness equipment item until more specific information was provided. The Commissions did make a motion on the wayfinding signage. MOTION BY COMMISSIONER FRESHMAN, SECOND BY COMMISSIONER MOODY, TO APPROVE THE WAYFINDING SIGN FOR THE SENIOR CENTER ON THE CORNER OF PROSPECT AVENUE AND FRONT STREET MOTION CARRIED: 5-0 6. COMMUNICATION 6.1 (This item was presented prior to item 4.1) 6.2 Recreation, Arts & Community Services Director’s Report October 22, 2024 Page 4 4 Henry Perezalonso provided information on staff updates at the Senior Center, as well as activities and events in the Recreation Department since the last meeting. 7. COMMISSIONER REPORTS 7.1 The Commissioners provided updates on their respective sub-Committee and liaison assignments. 8.
