Danville Parks, Recreation and Arts Commission Regular Meeting Summary of Actions April 10, 2024 1. CALL TO ORDER The special meeting of the Danville Parks, Recreation and Arts Commission was called to order by Chair Mesic at 6:31 p.m. in the Town Meeting Hall, 201 Front Street, Danville. CA. Present: Randall Diamond, Commissioner Kevin Donovan, Commissioner Adam Falcon, Commissioner Jane Joyce, Commissioner (arrived 6:37 pm) Joe Lindsey, Commissioner Charles Neary, Vice Chair Jenna Mesic, Chair Excused: Addison Brown, Youth Representative 2. CHANGES TO THE ORDER OF THE AGENDA There were no changes to the Order of the Agenda. 3. “FOR THE GOOD OF THE TOWN” There were no public comments. 4. CONSENT CALENDAR 4.1 Consider approval of the Summary of Actions for the March 13, 2024 Parks, Recreation and Arts Commission Regular meeting Docusign Envelope ID: 39A88E58-38B1-4399-B909-F19CFCF26E42 Parks, Recreation and Arts Commission Special Meeting Summary of Actions April 10, 2024 2 Director Perezalonso proposed modified wording to the March 13, 2024 Summary of Actions 4.1 to clarify the motion should read: MOTION TO DIRECT STAFF TO CONTINUE WORKING WITH THE ALAMO MUNICIPAL ADVISORY COUNCIL TO FOCUS ON SITE 3 FOR THE PROPOSED SHADE STRUCTURE AT HAP MAGEE RANCH PARK, INCLUDING DEVELOPING DETAILS DESIGNING A STRUCTURE TO BE MORE CONSISTENT WITH THE OVERALL AESTHETICS IN THE PARK, AND REFINING THE ASSOCIATED COST ESTIMATES. MOTION BY COMMISSION DONOVAN, SECOND BY COMMISSIONER NEARY, TO APPROVE THE SUMMARY OF ACTIONS OF THE MARCH 13, 2024 PARKS, RECREATION, AND ARTS COMMISSION SPECIAL MEETING AS REVISED. MOTION CARRIED 6-0-0-1 COMMISSIONER BROWN ABSENT. 4.2 Consider approval of the Summary of Actions of the March 13, 2024, and Arts Commission and Arts Advisory Board Regular Meeting MOTION BY COMMISSIONER DIAMOND, SECOND BY COMMISIONER DONOVAN, TO APPROVE THE SUMMARY OF ACTIONS OF THE MARCH 13, 2024 ARTS COMMISSION AND ARTS ADVISORY BOARD REGULAR MEETING. MOTION CARRIED: 6-0-0-1 5. COMMUNICATION 5.1 Youth and Teen Programming Update Lindsay Rowan, Youth and Teens Program Supervisor, presented a comprehensive overview of the youth and teen programs offered by the Recreation Services department which included a large variety of contract classes, summer camp in-house as well as contract camps, and a variety of popular theme-based events, such as May the 4th, coming up next month. She also shared the Danville Youth Council program is thriving. Ms. Rowan responded to questions and comments from the Commission. 5.2 Adult and Senior Programming Update Docusign Envelope ID: 39A88E58-38B1-4399-B909-F19CFCF26E42 Parks, Recreation and Arts Commission Special Meeting Summary of Actions April 10, 2024 3 Leah Martinez, Adult and Senior Program Supervisor, presented highlights of the Adult and Senior programs offered which included a variety of activities such as a multitude of dance classes, fitness classes, lecture series, trips, tech classes and special events. She also reported on the growing numbers in the Monday Café Costa County lunch program. Ms. Martinez also noted the growth of the program in general since 2020. Leah Martinez responded to questions and comments from the Commission. 5.3 Recreation, Arts & Community Services Report Director Perezalonso provided a detailed update on Town Council and reported details regarding the activities, events and programs which have taken place and upcoming in Recreation Services. 6.
