TOWN OF DANVILLE SENIOR ADVISORY COMMISSION SUMMARY OF ACTIONS Draft APRIL 24, 2024 1. CALL TO ORDER The regular meeting of the Senior Advisory Commission was called to order by Vice Chair Moody at 4:00 pm. Vice Chair Moody requested the Commissioners introduce themselves and roll was called. Present: Steven Freshman, Commissioner Candace Hendra, Commissioner Sandra Moody, Vice Chair Excused: Jim Donnelly, Commissioner Roxanne Foster, Chair 2. CHANGES TO THE ORDER OF THE AGENDA There were no changes to the agenda. 3. "FOR THE GOOD OF THE TOWN" None. 4. CONSENT CALENDAR 4.1 Consider approval of the Summary of Actions from the January 24, 2024, Senior Advisory Commission Regular Meeting. MOTION BY COMMISSIONER FRESHMAN, SECOND BY COMMISSIONER HENDRA, TO APPROVE THE SUMMARY OF ACTIONS OF THE JANUARY 24, 2024, SENIOR ADVISORY COMMISSION REGULAR MEETING. MOTION CARRIED 3-0 5. COMMUNICATION 5.1 Town and Senior Center Updates Leah Martinez provided a detailed report on the latest Town updates and provided information on ongoing and new programs and activities at the Senior Center since the last meeting on January 24, 2024. These included results of the transportation survey, and information on the Town’s Volunteer program. She also highlighted a presentation to the Parks Recreation and Arts Commission from the Youth & Teens and Adult & Senior program areas at their last meeting. Ms. Martinez responded to questions from the Commission. 6. COMMISSIONERS’ REPORTS 6.1 Commissioners’ Sub-Committee and Liaison Reports Commissioner Hendra provided updates on the San Ramon Valley Unified School District Facilities, and shared as liaison to the Bicycle Commission there was discussion regarding electric/motorized bikes on the Iron Horse trail. She also shared that May 4 was Bike Anywhere Day. Commissioner Freshman provided updates on the Tech Café, and the transportation survey intercept event in his role as liaison on the Gathering Spaces Subcommittee. As liaison on the Housing Subcommittee, he provided updates regarding groundbreaking on two 55+ senior living projects in the Town. As liaison to the Parks, Recreation & Arts Commission, he shared there was comprehensive discussion regarding updates on the Town Green project and the shade structure project at Hap Magee Ranch Park. Commissioner Freshman responded to questions and comments from Commissioner Donovan, from the Parks Commission in the audience. Vice-Chair Moody reported updates as liaison on the Social Connections Subcommittee that she has been reaching out to senior living facilities among other avenues and shared Clark Stone’s A New Wrinkle as a resource for seniors. Vice Chair Moody shared updates on events and activities at the Senior Center which foster community and social connections. As liaison to the Planning Commission, she provided update on a multi-family development for 167 units in Boreal, as well as highlights from the Town Council meeting which included that February was Black History month, and reported on several ongoing projects which included the LLAD lighting, housing, and Danville Catalyst Project. She shared the Volunteer of the Year award was given to Gene Bengtson for his years of service to the Senior Bocce program, and to Cynthia Campi for her contribution to the Senior Lunch program at the Senior Center. 7.
