Good Morning Mr. Crompton,
I am a resident of the Anderson Ranch subdivision here in Danville. I have been a
resident here since 1994 and have a long memory of the different geological events that
have occurred in the hills above this development. I have first hand know of the
because of my relationship to Mike Temps( my Uncle) and Paul Baldacci ( my late
father).
Being the daughter of a developer, I know that there are many requirements and
important details required for the submittal of a development plan. If these details are
overlooked, very fortunate results can occur. In 1997, less than 10 years after the
completion of this development , Engeo, the soils engineering firm that was contracted
to supply the necessary soils details for this development did not provide enough
critical test information. A very large geological slip plane moved in 1997 which
resulted in a large section of the hillside moving and jeopardizing the safety of three
homes. The slip plane that was unearthed was located almost 80 ft below the graded
surface and required significant subterranean drainage to stabilize the hillside. The
hillside that was repaired is a very small section of this proposed project. I am asking
that every effort be made to fully assess the geological stability of this project. Even the
repaired section has not stopped moving. The events that occurred in 1997 had very
long reaching legal actions and all of it could have been avoided with extensive
geological testing and assessment! Please do not let the developer take the easy less
costly way out, and require as much geological testing as possible! Unfortunately, he
may discover that the hills just don’t have the means to support the volume of homes he
is requesting.
As the daughter of a Developer, I know open space doesn’t stay that way forever.
However, there are some open spaces that just provide too much risk to build!
Thank you for your consideration to this request.
Sincerely
Loretta Baldacci Glesener
