Meeting Summary

1. CALL TO ORDER
The regular meeting of the Danville Design Review Board was called to order at 5:00
p.m., at the Town Offices, 500 La Gonda Way, Danville, CA
Board Attendance: Mark Belotz Alt., Robert Combs, Lou Palandrani, Kevin
Wong
Absent: Afshan Hamid, Chris Trujillo
Staff Attendance: Riley Anderson -Barrett
2. CHANGES TO THE ORDER OF THE AGENDA - None
3. FOR THE GOOD OF THE TOWN - None
4. ITEMS FOR CONSIDERATION/ACTION
4.1 Consider approval of the Meeting Summary from the Design Review Board
regular meeting of February 15, 2024
Board Member Belotz made a motion to approve the meeting summary which
was seconded by Chair Wong.
Motion carried 4-0-0-2
5. DESIGN REVIEW ITEMS
5.1 Review and approve final building permit plans for previously approved
Development Plan (DEV21-0003) allowing the redevelopment of the property
located at 344 Diablo Road with a new 22,847 square foot self -storage building
(Project Planner: Riley Anderson -Barrett).
Riley Anderson -Barrett, Associate Planner, introduced the project and presented
the staff report.

Chris Koenig, Applicant, presented the project and answered questions from
Design Review Board Members.
Board Member Combs commented that the future signs should avoid being too
conspicuous and shall require future approval from the DRB. Board Members
asked questions about trees and any additional changes to the project.
Decision: Board Member Combs made a motion to approve the project, which
was seconded by Board Member Belotz.
Motion carried 4-0-0-2
5.2 Review and approve Development Plan request DEV24-0007 to allow the
construction of a patio cover for Pete's Brass Rail located at 201 Hartz Ave
(Project Planner: Riley Anderson -Barrett).
Riley Anderson -Barrett, Associate Planner, introduced the project and presented
the staff report.
Ron Abbes, Applicant, presented the project and answered questions from
Design Review Board Members.
Vice Chair Palandrani asked questions about the proposed dark brown paint
color. Board Member Belotz and Combs discussed putting a cover on the
structure during winter months and adding more permanent features to protect
the structure. Board Members commented that the paint color should be lighter
to match the building body or trim, the paint on the building is encouraged to be
updated or repainted, and the paint colors should be revisited either through
staff member coordination or with a site visit to review swatches.
Decision: Vice Chair Palandrani made a motion to approve the project with the
caveat that paint colors would be reviewed at a future date, which was seconded
by Board Member Belotz.
