SENIOR ADVISORY COMMISSION
SUMMARY OF ACTIONS Draft
JANUARY 24, 2024
1. CALL TO ORDER
The regular meeting of the Senior Advisory Commission was called to order by Chair
Foster at 4:00 pm.
Chair Foster requested the Commissioners introduce themselves and roll was called.

2. CHANGES TO THE ORDER OF THE AGENDA
Leah Martinez requested to move Item 4.1 to later in the meeting and continue with
Item 4.2.
3. "FOR THE GOOD OF THE TOWN"
Clark Stone, Danville resident, presented a comprehensive report of a new business
he is establishing called A New Wrinkle, a local source for seniors focusing on health
and wellness. The website is anewwrinkle.com.
4. PRESENTATIONS
4.1 Service Award: Presentation to Jim Donnelly by Councilmember Fong (presented
after Item 4.2)
Councilmember Fong presented a Service Award to Commissioner Jim Donnelly for
his years of contributions, service, and representation both to the Town of Danville
and the County in his many roles, including as volunteer class instructor at the Senior
Center.
4.2 Emergency Services Update – Nate McCormack, Emergency Services Manager
Mr. McCormack presented a comprehensive, detailed emergency response plan and
provided many suggestions and important information for preparation of
emergency kits at home.
5. CONSENT CALENDAR
5.1 Consider approval of the Summary of Actions from the October 25, 2023 Senior
Advisory Commission Regular Meeting.
Vice Chair Moody noted that there were corrections to the Chair and Vice Chair
positions on the October 25, 2023 Summary of Actions Attendees.
MOTION BY COMMISSIONER FRESHMAN, SECOND BY COMMISSIONER
HENDRA, TO APPROVE THE SUMMARY OF ACTIONS OF THE OCTOBER 25,
2023, SENIOR ADVISORY COMMISSION MEETING AS AMENDED.
MOTION CARRIED 5-0
6. ADMINISTRATIVE STAFF REPORTS
6.1 Town and Senior Center Updates
Leah Martinez provided a comprehensive update of the latest Town updates, and
highlighted programs and activities at the Senior Center since the last meeting on
October 25, 2023. She shared the Spring Activity Guide is being mailed out this
week.
Ms. Martinez responded to questions from the Commission.
7. COMMUNICATION
7.1 Age-Friendly Budget Discussion
Leah Martinez led a discussion regarding the age-friendly dollars allocated to the
Senior Advisory Commission and the process for moving forward. There was a
consensus for the Senior Advisory Commission to set up a workshop to follow
up on the discussion of priorities for the budget.
8. COMMISSIONER REPORTS
8.1 Commissioners’ Sub-Committee and Liaison Reports
Vice-Chair Moody reported updates as liaison on the Social Connections
Subcommittee and offered suggestions for accessibility at the Village Theatre. She
highlighted several areas of activity since October 25, 2023. She also updated the
Commission as liaison to the Planning Commission since October 25. 2023.
Commissioner Hendra provided updates as liaison on the Advocacy
Subcommittee since October 25, 2023 and provided information and updates as
liaison to the Bicycle Commission.
Commissioner Donnelly presented transportation information and questions
regarding the transportation survey. Leah Martinez responded to questions and
it was discussed the Senior Advisory Commission will hold a workshop to discuss
the priorities at a date to be determined.
Commissioner Freshman reported updates as liaison on the Gathering Spaces
Subcommittee since October 25, 2023. He also provided information as liaison on
the Recreation, Arts and Community Services Parks Commission.
Chair Foster shared updates as liaison on the Transportation Subcommittee and
the options for providing that service. She provided a detailed report as liaison on
the Town Council since the last Commission meeting on October 25, 2023.
Commissioner Hendra, as liaison to SRVUSD Facilities, provided information on
their last meeting. She also reported as liaison to the Bicycle Commission and
provided updates since July 26, 2023.
Chair Freshman reported as liaison for the Recreation, Arts and Community
Services Commission and provided information and updates since July 26, 2023.
9. ADJOURNMENT
The regular meeting of the Danville Senior Advisory Commission was adjourned
at 5:48 p.m.
