This was a conversation between you and I and one other councilmember who was involved in a very specific conversation with the bicycle commission. This is an agendized meeting and not meant to bring into play the entire council. I’m not able to bring the entire council into the conversation as I may trigger a Brown Act Violation. If I felt the entire council needed to be advised, I would have included them. Please don’t do that again. I spoke with Al about his recent conversation with Newell, but frankly it didn't seem relevant to determining the future of the Bicycle Advisory Commission. I certainly don't know what has gone on from your perspective, but from mine, the tone of Town Council's discussion about the future of the BAC has shifted significantly, which I'm trying to understand. At Angela's and my discussion with you on Feb 20, it seemed like you were making a sincere effort to help Angela and I guide the BAC to conform more to the expected norm for meeting protocols, and we left the meeting with the agreement that we would do our best. Since that Feb 20 meeting there's been no meetings of the BAC, nor any communication with the Town Staff. I hope the discussion at your study session next week will provide a broader perspective of the drivers for the Town Council to remove Al Kalin or disband the BAC. By the way, I'm copying the rest of the Town Council on this note because it may be relevant to your discussion next week. I would suggest talking to Al about his conversation with Newell to shed some light on yet another conversation Newell and Al just recently. We (the council) (me) made some mistakes in judgement, and we will discuss this on Tuesday’s study session. I was hoping you and Al would of taken a leadership role and moved the commission in a positive direction to support Danville’s Bicycle Master Plan……….(as commissioners and not lobbyists), instead you and Al have done so much behind the commissions back (and in my opinion) there is no good reason to continue this concept. You have angered staff each and every step of the way. You have hijacked meetings to fit your own agenda, You have monopolized staff’s time as if they work for you. You have not made the bicycle experience a good one and its time for it to go. Because of the direction you felt the commission should go, you involved people who should never have been involved with a commission that meets six times a year., Tai Williams Asst Town Manager Rob Ewing City Atty Joe Calabrigo Town Manager Diane Friedman, Development Services Director. Newell Arnerich Myself, All have sat down to discuss this with you politely and directly and still no change in behavior. Andy Dilliard frustrations have been felt by everyone. You and Al have both have hijacked the bicycle commission and in doing so put the other commissioners in harm’s way. The one thing I still don’t understand is attendance…………… this commission meets 6 times a year +- on a specified day every other month…………..and yet we had to cancel the last meeting because of attendance issues, simply unclear why or how that’s possible. We will discuss this on Tuesday and let you know the outcome. Since Angela's and my meeting meeting with you on February 20, what has changed that would prompt this action by you and Newell Arnerich? The Commission hasn't even had a meeting since then, nor have we had any interaction with either the Town Staff or the Town Council except for my presentation to the Town Council on February 20 and attendance at the Commissions Workshop on March 4. We would appreciate your insight. Thanks. Bruce
