1. CALL TO ORDER
The regular meeting of the Danville Design Review Board was called to order at 5:02
p.m., at the Town Offices, 500 La Gonda Way, Danville, CA
Board Attendance: Mark Belotz Alt, Afshan Hamid, Lou Palandrani, Chris
Trujillo
Absent: Robert Combs, Kevin Wong
Staff Attendance: Riley Anderson -Barrett
2. CHANGES TO THE ORDER OF THE AGENDA - Continue 4.1 to a future meeting
3. FOR THE GOOD OF THE TOWN - None
4. PRESENTATIONS
4.1 Service Award: presentation to Kevin Wong by Councilmember Morgan -
Continued to a future meeting
5. ACTION ITEMS
5.1 Election of 2024 Design Review Board Chair
Chair Hamid made a motion to nominate Vice Chair Wong for 2024 Chair which
was seconded by Board Member Palandrani.
Motion carried 4-0-0-2
5.2 Election of 2024 Design Review Board Vice Chair
Board Member Palandrani made a motion to nominate Board Member Trujillo
for 2024 Vice Chair which was seconded by Board Member Belotz.
Motion carried 4-0-0-2

5.3 Consider approval of the Meeting Summary from the Design Review Board
regular meeting of December 14, 2023
Board Member Hamid made a motion to approve the meeting summary which
was seconded by Board Member Palandrani.
Motion carried 4-0-0-2
6. DESIGN REVIEW ITEMS
6.1 Selection of the 2024 Design Awards to be recommended to the Town Council
Riley Anderson -Barrett, Associate Planner, presented the staff report.
Category 1: Outstanding New Residential Neighborhood Design
Board Member Hamid recommended 134 El Dorado for the award. Vice Chair
Trujillo also recommended 134 El Dorado for the award. Board Member
Palandrani recommended Rivers Lane for the award but also praised 134 El
Dorado. Board Member Belotz recommended Rivers Lane for the award but also
praised Hackler Court and 134 El Dorado.
Decision: The Design Review Board recommended two projects for the award,
134 El Dorado as a good example of a new neighborhood and Rivers Lane as a
good example of infill.
Category 2: Outstanding Custom Home Design
All Board Members recommended 372 Cordell for the award and praised its
landscaping and elegance.
Decision: The Design Review Board recommended 372 Cordell for the award.
Category 3: Outstanding Commercial Remodel Design
Board Member Hamid discussed how 194 Diablo is a good example of reuse, 344
Railroad has very nice materials, and 200 Hartz appears fresh and authentic and
helps to set Danville apart from other cities. Vice Chair Trujillo recommended
200 Hartz due to the impact it makes on the Downtown but also praised the
Fazzio/Fischer House. Board Member Palandrani recommended 200 Hartz as

well as 194 Diablo. Board Member Belotz recommended The Fazzio/Fischer
House as well as 200 Hartz.
Decision: The Design Review Board recommended two projects for the award,
200 Hartz Ave as a good example of a new commercial building and I Can Do
That! Performing Arts Center as a good example of renovation and reuse.
Category 4: Outstanding Historic Renovation and Redevelopment Design
All Board Members recommended the Jewelers Building for the award and
discussed that it was well done and retained its historic feel.
Decision: The Design Review Board recommended the Jewelers Building for the
award.
