DATE: February 13, 2024
TO: Town Council
FROM: Riley Anderson -Barrett, Associate Planner
SUBJECT: 2024 Design Awards Nominees
The Town of Danville presents the Town's 11th Design Awards to recognize outstanding
architectural design and to promote excellence in project design. This award program
strives to raise public awareness of the value and design excellence that owners,
architects, and builders bring to all project types. The quality of these projects exemplifies
and upholds the Town's dedication to preserving and enhancing the Town's special
history and character. The design awards are presented periodically, as warranted, and
were last presented during a regularly scheduled Town Council Meeting in March of
2020. This year the categories are:
Category 1: Outstanding New Residential Neighborhood Design
Category 2: Outstanding Custom Home Design
Category 3: Outstanding Commercial Remodel Design
Category 4: Outstanding Historic Renovation and Redevelopment Design
Nominations include new developments and building renovations constructed between
2019 and 2023. On January 11, 2024, the Design Review Board evaluated the nominees
and made recommendations as to which projects should be considered for the 2024
Design Awards. Projects recommended by the Design Review Board are denoted with an
asterisk. Please review the nominees and score them in the included scorecard based on
the listed criteria. We also recommend reaching out to the architects to research
additional information on the project. We will collectively review the evaluations at the
February 13, 2024, Town Council study session.
Award winning projects will be recognized by the Town Council at a regularly scheduled
meeting on March 19, 2024. If you have any question regarding this process, please direct
them to my attention at (925)-314-3314 or randersonbarrett@danville.ca.gov.
