SUMMARY OF ACTIONS
OCTOBER 25, 2023
1. CALL TO ORDER
The regular meeting of the Senior Advisory Commission was called to order by Chair
Foster at 4:00 pm.
Chair Foster requested the Commissioners introduce themselves and roll was called.
Present: Steven Freshman, Commissioner
Candace Hendra, Commissioner
Sandra Moody, Vice Chair
Roxanne Foster, Chair
Excused: Jim Donnelly, Commissioner
2. CHANGES TO THE ORDER OF THE AGENDA
Leah Martinez requested to move Item 6.1 Via presentation to the first item
following the Consent Calendar Item 4.

There were no speakers.
4. CONSENT CALENDAR
4.1 Consider approval of the Summary of Actions from the July 26, 2023 Senior
Advisory Commission Regular Meeting.

MOTION BY COMMISSIONER FRESHMAN, SECOND BY COMMISSIONER
HENDRA, TO APPROVE THE SUMMARY OF ACTIONS OF THE JULY 26, 2023,
SENIOR ADVISORY COMMISSION MEETING.

5. ADMINISTRATIVE STAFF REPORTS
5.1 Via representative Garrett Brinker presented a comprehensive report regarding
Via's transportation program for consideration at the Danville Senior Center.
Mr. Brinker responded to questions from the Commission.
5.2 Consideration of Senior Advisory Commission meeting dates for 2024.
The Commission discussed the potential meeting dates and times. The consensus
was to continue with the current Commission meeting times of 4:00 pm on the 4th
Wednesday, quarterly.

TO APPROVE THE SENIOR ADVISORY COMISSION MEETING DATES ON THE
4TH WEDNESDAY IN THE MONTHS OF JANUARY, APRIL, JULY, AND
OCTOBER FOR 2024 AS OUTLINED IN ATTACHMENT A.
MOTION CARRIED 4-0-1
MOTION BY VICE -CHAIR MOODY, SECOND BY COMMISSIONER HENDRA, TO
APPROVE THE SENIOR ADVISORY COMISSION MEETING TIMES REMAIN
UNCHANGED AT 4:00 PM. FOR 2024 AS OUTLINED IN ATTACHMENT A.

6. COMMUNICATION
6.1 Via presentation moved to item 5.1
6.2 Town and Senior Center Updates
Leah Martinez provided a comprehensive update of the latest Town updates, and
highlighted programs and activities at the Senior Center since the last meeting on
July 26, 2023, including the increase in participation numbers in 2022-2023. Leah also
introduced Amy Schell, who is the new part-time addition to the staff and her role as
a Volunteer Program Assistant in charge of the Town's Volunteer program.

Ms. Martinez responded to questions from the Commission.
7. COMMISSIONER'S REPORTS
7.1 Commissioners' Sub -Committee Reports
Vice -Chair Moody reported updates as liaison on the Social Connections
Subcommittee. She highlighted several areas of activity since July 26, 2023.
Commissioner Freshman reported as liaison on the Gathering Spaces Subcommittee
since July 26, 2023.
Commissioner Hendra provided updates as liaison on the Advocacy Subcommittee
since July 26, 2023.
Chair Foster shared the Via presentation served as an update as liaison on the
Transportation Subcommittee.
7.2 Commissioners' Liaison Reports
Commissioner Hendra as liaison to SRVUSD Facilities provided information on their
last meeting. She also reported as liaison to the Bicycle Commission and provided
updates since July 26, 2023.
Chair Freshman reported as liaison for the Recreation, Arts and Community Services
Commission and provided information and updates since July 26, 2023.
Chair Foster provided a comprehensive report of the past Town Council Commission
meetings which she has attended since July 26, 2023.

The regular meeting of the Danville Senior Advisory Commission was adjourned at
