HomeMy WebLinkAboutASRDRB20240111 6.1DESIGN REVIEW BOARD STAFF REPORT 6el TO: Design Review Board Members January 11, 2024 SUBJECT: Review and provide comments on the proposed Design Award categories and recommended nominees BACKGROUND The Town Council presents Design Awards to recognize architects, designers, and builders with outstanding designs in residential or commercial developments that exemplify and uphold the unique character of Danville. The design awards are presented periodically, as warranted, and were last presented during a regularly scheduled Town Council Meeting in March of 2020. DISCUSSION This year the Council has chosen the following Design Award categories: 1) Outstanding New Residential Neighborhood Design 2) Outstanding Custom Home Design 3) Outstanding Commercial Remodel Design 4) Outstanding Historic Renovation and Redevelopment Design Additional categories may be added if there are additional nominations that do not fall under a specific category. Project nominations are limited to developments completed within the years 2019-2023. Final nominations will be provided to the DRB in the January 11, 2024, meeting packet. DRB members should visit the sites and review the projects prior to the meeting. All DRB members' evaluations will be collectively reviewed during this meeting. The DRB will recommend potential Design Award recipients to the Town Council. The Town Council will select the winners at a study session on February 13, 2024, and the awards will be presented at a regularly scheduled Town Council Meeting in March of 2024. The following preliminary list includes all the new residential neighborhood design, custom home design, commercial remodel design, and historic renovation and redevelopment design projects that have been completed between 2019-2023.
