SUBJECT: Review and provide comments on the proposed Design Award categories
and recommended nominees
BACKGROUND
The Town Council presents Design Awards to recognize architects, designers, and
builders with outstanding designs in residential or commercial developments that
exemplify and uphold the unique character of Danville. The design awards are presented
periodically, as warranted, and were last presented during a regularly scheduled Town
Council Meeting in March of 2020.
DISCUSSION
This year the Council has chosen the following Design Award categories:
1) Outstanding New Residential Neighborhood Design
2) Outstanding Custom Home Design
3) Outstanding Commercial Remodel Design
4) Outstanding Historic Renovation and Redevelopment Design
Additional categories may be added if there are additional nominations that do not fall
under a specific category. Project nominations are limited to developments completed
within the years 2019-2023.
Final nominations will be provided to the DRB in the January 11, 2024, meeting packet.
DRB members should visit the sites and review the projects prior to the meeting. All DRB
members' evaluations will be collectively reviewed during this meeting. The DRB will
recommend potential Design Award recipients to the Town Council. The Town Council
will select the winners at a study session on February 13, 2024, and the awards will be
presented at a regularly scheduled Town Council Meeting in March of 2024.
