Dear Ms. Gail,
My name is Joanne Jouris and I am a Danville resident.
I am writing to you as I will not be able to attend the meeting in person.
I strongly support the project to expand the pickleball courts at Osage Station Park.
We desperately need more courts to support the growing popularity in the sport.
I was pleased to read the CEQA environmental study results indicate no significant impacts are
anticipated and I hope this allows us get one step closer to building new courts.
Yours in the support of more pickleball courts

Gail,
I am a local resident living at 58 Stoddard Ct in Danville and am in full support of the Expansion of Pickleball
courts at Osage Park. I’ve been a resident at this address for the last 34 years where I’ve seen park improvements
for the kids in our community. Now it’s time to make improvements which would benefit not only the youth in our
community but also senior citizens as myself. Both San Ramon and Pleasanton have built courts and it would be
nice to see my local town do the same and support our community. Don’t let a few people that don’t understand the
benefits of these courts but are more vocal derail this project. There are more people supporting this project that
aren’t as vocal as them.

Dear Henry Perezalonso and Gail Massagli:
My name is Calvin Wong and I am in support of adding new pickleball courts to
Osage Station Park.
I have been a resident of Danville since 1983 in the Shadow Hills neighborhood.
While our HOA does not have dedicated pickleball courts, we have recently added
pickleball lines on a second tennis court after the support received from lining one of
our earlier tennis courts. Pickleball’s popularity continues to grow and new courts in
Danville are very much needed.
I have been playing pickleball since 2017 and I currently help organize pickleball play
at Osage on Wednesday mornings and Thursday evenings on the existing two
courts. When the Osage courts are not available or crowded, we go play in San
Ramon’s Central Park or Muirwood Park in Pleasanton. Each of those parks recently
opened six new pickleball courts. It would be fantastic if the Town of Danville can do
the same.
I have reviewed the noise and traffic studies performed for the addition of 6-8 new
pickleball courts at Osage and I am very pleased to see that the report shows minimal
impact to the community. I hope that these studies satisfactorily address the concerns
raised by our neighbors.
Thank you to the Commission for working with the community, listening to concerns
over the new courts, and making recommendations to resolve these concerns. I now
look forward to the project moving ahead and the benefits that these new courts will
bring.
Thanks,
Calvin Wong

Danville Parks and Recreation:
I have been an Alamo resident for over 30 years and an avid pickleballer for over
6 years. There is no location in the Alamo area for pickleball.
I have been anxiously awaiting for more pickleball courts to be installed in the
Town of Danville. With only two courts currently available, the wait times are
too long due to the popularity of the sport so I play in Walnut Creek, San Ramon
and Pleasanton.
As long as the sound study shows that the noise generated by the play will not
violate any Town noise ordinance and any noise can be mitigated, I feel that the
Town should move forward with their plan for additional courts. The demand and
desire for more courts is evident.
I realize that there was an initial onslaught of opposition when news of the courts
was brought to everyone’s attention. But I think you will find that most of those
people who were in opposition had no real vested interest in the issue. They were
just supporting their neighbors and friends. I have a personal friend who lives
next to Osage, signed the opposition petition, but is not involved in the continued
opposition because she “doesn’t care.”
The Town needs to realize that when pickleballers are forced to play in other
towns and cities, they take their money with them. Where they play pickleball is
where they run errands and eat after playing.
When people buy homes next to parks, schools, hospitals, fire stations, police
stations, they should expect that there will be noise and that they can’t control
what noise will be generated currently or in the future.
I will be curious to see how many people show up at the meeting on December
13th. My experience with Walnut Creek meetings is that the pickleballers show
up in droves, but those in opposition are very few because only a very few are
opposed and their opposition should not win over the vast majority when it comes
to local parks & recreation improvements.
To be sure, you have heard all this before ad nauseam. I am sure you are tired of
hearing it. I am tired of having to fight for something that, as a Danville resident,
I feel is a basic right for the Town to provide something that everyone, except for
an entitled few, apparently want.
But I will continue to fight because I enjoy the game and I would like to play in
my own community. Until then, I will take my pickleball and money elsewhere.
On a side note, there is a large piece of property on the corner of Fostoria and
Camino Ramon. It seems to me that this would be a great place to put courts (and
parking) because any noise will be mitigated by the freeway and not disturb any
current or future homeowners to the north.
I look forward to meeting you at the meeting on December 13th.
Regards,
Cece Kohl

Dear Danville Parks, Recreation and Arts Commission,
RE: Meeting on Wednesday, December 13, 2023 6:30 p.m., Agenda Item 5.
I am writing in support of the addition of six pickleball courts with seating at Osage Park for a total of eight
courts. The entire community of pickleball players in the community have been patiently waiting for the
environmental study to be completed and for this resolution to be adopted. As I have expressed in the past,
many Danville residents are currently playing pickleball outside of our community because the two existing
pickelball courts are so impacted. We are greatly looking forward to having courts in our community to be
able to utilize. As you know, pickleball has enormous physical and mental health benefits for both young
and old and it is a fantastic opportunity for our community to come together in a shared inclusive activity. I
am also excited for my children who attend Charlotte Wood and San Ramon Valley High School to be able
to come play pickleball as a family at Osage Park. I urge the commission to pass this resolution for our local
residents and the greater good of the Danville community. Please do not let the voices of a few deter you
from moving forward with this resolution that benefits the entire community.
Sincerely,

Appreciate the response.
My wife and I are out of town for work this week.
So I wanted to send an email to be heard.
Hopefully you take it into consideration.
And please…take 20 minutes and google “pickleball noise”. It’s hundreds if not thousands of hits
from around the country…every story is the same. Noise complaints, shuttered courts and lawsuits.
There is no other story that comes up. There is no other way this ends. There is no “the
neighborhood learned to love the noise” story. Doesn’t exist. Can’t be found.
Pickleball is popular. Pickleball also causes so much noise it is a health risk. These facts are
irrefutable.
So to put the courts in a neighborhood…is putting the health of Danville residents at risk.
There is no neighborhood at Sycamore Park, Monte vista or Mustang Soccer Complex. No homes at
all. So no health risks.
Everyone wins.
Thanks.
Ross Miller.

Before any decision is made on where to put Danville's new pickleball
courts please take 15 minutes to google what the noise of the game does
to surrounding homes and neighborhoods, and the health risks that noise
pollution does.

Without exception, pickleballs courts in any sort of neighborhood leads to
lengthy and expensive lawsuits, shuttered courts and a fractured
community.
Why do this when you have 3 different potential sites with no homes or
neighborhood nearby...but still has the infrastructure (meaning parking
and restrooms) necessary to support the courts?
Sycamore Park is shovel ready, with absolutely no homes nearby.
Monte Vista has MORE tennis courts than Osage, and transitioning 2 of
them will give you 8 pickleball courts, again, with no homes nearby.
Mustang Soccer Complex also achieves the same goal.
3 potential options. ALL with parking and restrooms. ALL without homes
nearby.
No lawsuits, no noise complaints, no fractured community. its a win/win.
Take the easy win. Please.

Gail,
I am a strong supporter for adding new pickle ball courts to Danville parks. This is a greatsport full of outdoor exercise, social connections and wonderful people. Adding more courtswould help meet the needs and wants of many Danville residents (it is very popular anddesirable)
It would be a great addition to Danville parks and meet the need of so many people who arehungry for more court time (limited court space now). Pickle ball is a healthy and very popular
sport which has a very inclusive style play and format (called drop in play that welcomeseveryone).
I am a long time Danville resident (since 1995) and am very proud of this community and loveliving here. Adding additional pick ball courts would be a great addition to this town and awonderful new asset.
Please vote yes to add more courts….
Sincerely,
Brad Falk

Henry, Parks & Recs, and Town Council,
I support your proposal for 8 Pickleball courts and 4 Tennis Courts at Osage Park.
Thank you for restoring the 4th tennis court!
Regarding the Consideration of Conditions of Approval, can you please make it clear
in your documents that these conditions are for the pickleball courts only. Specifically
in the Priority of Use, to continue allow tennis league teams and commercial
instructors to rent the tennis courts. Also tennis courts do not need or want sound
barriers.

Good Morning Town Council and Park & Rec Commission;
I'll be short and to the point so as not to take up too much of your time. I live on Paraiso Dr and am
against adding more pickleball courts to Osage Park. Traffic is already a concern on Paraiso which
puts my and other children at risk every day as they walk/bike to nearby schools (Paraiso and other
roads nearby have no sidewalks so our kids are forced to walk in the roads.). Parking at Osage is
already tough and we frequently see overflow parking on our residential roads. I believe the added
noise will also negatively affect Charlotte Wood Middle School and the surrounding homes.
We've consistently seen these problems highlighted in the news when pickleball courts have been
created in the middle of residential neighborhoods. Let us learn from their mistakes.
I believe there are better locations for the pickleball courts and we should enlist a comprehensive
study to find the most suitable location. I am not against pickleball, just against this particular
location.
Thank you,

Dear City of Danville Officials,
I hope this message finds you well. My name is Amit, and I am a proud resident of Danville
for the past 6 years, as well as an enthusiastic tennis and pickleball player. I am writing to
express my strong support for the addition of more pickleball courts at Osage Station Park.
Having started playing pickleball over a year ago, I have found immense joy and fulfillment in
this sport. While I continue to enjoy playing tennis, pickleball has brought an added layer of
enjoyment to my recreational activities. More importantly, it has facilitated the formation of
meaningful friendships and bonds with individuals from diverse cities, demographics, and age
groups.
Pickleball, in my experience, transcends boundaries and creates a unique environment for
socializing and connecting with people of all backgrounds. The inclusive and welcoming
nature of this sport has made it a vital part of my life, and I am confident that it has the
potential to enhance the community spirit at Osage Station Park.
I understand that the City of Danville has been working on a project to add more pickleball
courts to the park, and I am thrilled to hear about the progress made, particularly with the
completion of the CEQA environmental study. This is a significant step forward, and I believe
it is crucial to seize this opportunity to further develop the recreational amenities in our
community.
As an active participant in both tennis and pickleball, I can attest to the positive impact these
facilities can have on community engagement, physical well-being, and the overall quality of
life for Danville residents. I strongly urge the City of Danville to continue supporting and
investing in the growth of recreational opportunities, particularly by adding more pickleball
courts at Osage Station Park.
I am looking forward to witnessing the positive effects of such an enhancement on our
community and sincerely hope for your favorable consideration of this request. If there is any
way I can contribute further to this cause or provide additional information, please do not
hesitate to contact me.
Thank you for your time and dedication to improving our community's recreational facilities.

Good Morning,
This email is for inclusion in the Dec. 13th Parks and Rec meeting.
I am a 30 year resident of Danville and love our community. I strongly support the addition of
more courts at Osage Park. I am a founding member of the "Danville Dinkers," the group
formed when the two courts were added last year. When considering all the other Danville
parks, Osage, with all its' land, is a perfect location for the more courts.
Danville's Town Council has always impressed me with its visionary decision making. I
attended, via zoom, a few Parks and Rec meetings when the Commission was deciding on the
new play structure. Obviously, the Commission, and ultimately the Council, is firmly
committed to the recreational needs of all its citizens.
I live in Northridge, near Sycamore Park, and have happily watched it modernize with the
growing needs of our community. It is a well used and loved park! Lighted modern basketball
courts and all turf fields allow for a variety of field sports to play year round. With the
addition of more bocce courts and the modernization of the popular play structure, and a
number of picnic tables, the lower area is jammed with people of all ages throughout the day.
Osage is the perfect location to build courts. There is so much land at Osage Park. There is
adequate parking and a modern bathroom. The Parks and Rec Plan originally proposed by
Henry Perezalono, recommended building at least 8-10 courts alongside the tennis courts.
Danville has encouraged citizens to have input into our community. The time has come to
hear our support of healthy outdoor exercise from another group of people. It is time for the
Town to support the popular game of Pickleball. It is time to support the needs of the
community. Pickleball is not just a senior recreational sport (altho it very much is). Families
often come out to the courts. It is an easy game to learn, it provides a social experience for the
community. I could see Town leagues forming (as we have softball, bocce, and others), and
citizens out enjoying the beautiful Danville weather. Middle schools in the SRVUSD include
Pickleball in their PE rotation and have for a few years.
Please do not make Danville citizens continue to drive up and down 680 and 580 in search of
courts or limit themselves to private clubs such as Blackhawk or Crow Canyon.
I firmly support the addition of Pickleball courts at Osage Park. There is the land, there is a
plan, environmental and sound studies have been done, let's do it!
