CALL TO ORDER The regular meeting of the Danville Design Review Board was called to order at 5:00 p.m., at the Town Offices, 500 La Gonda Way, Danville, CA Board Attendance: Mark Belotz Alt, Robert Combs, Afshan Hamid, Lou Palandrani, Chris Trujillo, Kevin Wong Staff Attendance: Riley Anderson -Barrett, David Crompton, Yajaira Duran 2. CHANGES TO THE ORDER OF THE AGENDA - None 3. FOR THE GOOD OF THE TOWN - None 4. ACTION ITEMS 4.1 Consider approval of the June 15, 2023 Meeting Summary Board Member Palandrani made a motion to approve the meeting summary which was seconded by Board Member Belotz. Motion carried 6-0-0-0 4.2 Consider approval of the Design Review Board meeting dates for 2024. Vice Chair Wong made a motion to approve the meeting dates which was seconded by Board Member Palandrani. Motion carried 6-0-0-0 5. DESIGN REVIEW ITEMS 5.1 Review and approve the architecture, site plan, and landscape design, and colors and materials for Development Plan request DEV23-0005 for a five -unit motor court located at 144 El Dorado Avenue (Project Planner: Riley Anderson -Barrett). Design Review Board Meeting Summary August 24, 2023 Page 2 David Crompton, Chief of Planning, introduced the project and Riley Anderson Barrett, Associate Planner, presented the staff report. Mason Wodhams, Applicant, presented the project and answered questions from Design Review Board members. Chair Hamid suggested that the columns should be altered to be more to scale with the building, reduce the colors in the rear, and remove the red brick. Board Member Combs and Trujillo discussed simplifying the colors and materials. Decision: Board Member Wong made a motion to approve the project with the condition that the colors and materials are modified and return for review which was seconded by Vice Chair Wong. Motion carried 6-0-0-0 5.2 Review, approve and/or provide feedback on the architecture, color and material board, and landscape design for Development Plan request DEV22-0017 allowing for the construction of a new 7,631 square foot single family residence with an attached 569 square foot garage, and a 419 square foot JADU totaling 8,619 square feet located at 5 Ohlson Lane (Project Planner: Yajaira Duran). Yajaira Duran, Planning Technician, presented the staff report and answered questions from Design Review Board Members. Malika Junaid, Architect, presented the project and answered questions from Design Review Board members. Zhengrui He, Architect, and Naveen and Usman Rao, Property Owners, were also in attendance. Board Members discussed the split-level foundation and believed that the project meets the intent of the subdivision's conditions of approval. Board Members discussed altering the stucco to be a slightly lighter color and consider addition a gradient color scheme. Board Members complimented the spirit of the architecture, articulation, massing, and piers. Board Member Combs voices concerns over the massing and color. Decision: Board Member Palandrani made a motion to approve the project with the condition that the stucco color be modified to a lighter color or potentially gradient scheme and be made available for review which was seconded by Board Member Belotz.
