Town Council:
We believe PG&E should issue full credits for 7 days of literally no or barely some intermittent service
to our “entire” community. We consist of 60 units on Ashley Circle & Hartley Drive off Boone Court in
Danville. (Probably 62 separate PG&E billings in the Walnut Forest Homeowners complex.) The
outages over the 7 day period from Sunday 8/13 through and including Saturday 8/19 were not
planned outages, and we received no notification.
Our scenario: Have you ever packed or unpacked for a trip in the dark? We could not set A/C on
vacation mode as we had no power. We could not turn off systems or lights as we did not know what
was on to turn them off, and many plugs are not easily accessible, especially in the dark. Every
intermittent period of power turned on everything that was active before we left. At least we could
access our vehicle in the driveway and enter and exit through our front door to move our luggage and
not deal with a garage door opener with no power. We even missed our garbage pick up day as we
could not remove them from the garage where they are stored. Our list could go on about food losses
in our refrigerator and freezer, charging phones in our vehicles, etc. The power went out again 30
minutes after returning to our home on Friday night, 8/19. More fun to unpack in the dark. We called
PG&E outage center after discovering that 62 units had lost power again. The businesses and streets
surrounding us were up and running. Why was our complex the very last in Danville to be restored?
So, to sum up, regardless of what “power on” uptime PG&E did provide or switch to another source is
not worth our paying them for the horrible situation they caused. We should receive full credit for 24
hours x 7 days, for this situation. We only hope that PG&E is well prepared to handle future “planned”
outages to mitigate the nature of the problems they may create. It’s clear they had big problems
handling all of this, and they need to be held accountable to their customers.
