Dear Guillermo,
Thanks for taking my concerns seriously regarding multiple and ongoing power outages and service disruptions affecting the
Cameo acres area of Danville, and beyond into the Whitegate area of Alamo during the past few months, beginning in June.
We’ve not been provided any official explanations for most of these outages and there’s frustration by residents. These
unexplained outages have not occurred during high pressure on the power grid or storms. Some outages have been
intermittent throughout a single day, some occurred over several days in the same week. I recall one recent day in the past
few weeks when power went out three separate times, including at about 6pm during dinner time until about 9, and one
week when the power went out multiple times on different days. None of my friends and neighbors know why these
happened, or keep occurring.
But some local power outages have even been planned, I believe due to the large scale home construction project at Green
Valley and Diablo Road. I heard that people in the immediate vicinity of McCauley Road were notified of a recent planned
outage this past Saturday, September 17. On that same day, myself and many other frustrated households experienced yet
another unexplained service disruption of internet and cable from about 10am to 4:30pm. I suspect that was due to the
planned power outage up the road, however we weren’t notified. My internet and cable provider was only able to confirm
there was an outage somewhere affecting service. PG&E couldn’t identify the source of the problem because my own power
was on.
Several outlying neighborhoods beyond the directly affected service area are impacted by these planned outages, yet we
receive no advance notifications or explanations for what have become frequent outages and disruptions to what some
consider essential services that we pay for even when they’re not working. It is hard to fathom that Danville is operating like a
third world country with unreliable services and seemingly no explanation or accountability by our own officials. This goes
beyond frustrating and becomes a public safety issue if we don’t have access to emergency communications on a regular
basis. It is shortsighted at best to not recognize that these services are interconnected and affect other neighborhoods outside
the immediate area without power, which I can only imagine is getting tiresome to those residents as well.

I hope your department can help improve communication, notifications and services to residents affected by these issues. I’m
sure the community will greatly appreciate it.
Sincerely,
Robin Epstein
