CALL TO ORDER The regular meeting of the Senior Advisory Commission was called to order by Chair Freshman at 4:00 pm. Present: Candace Hendra, Conunissioner Sandra Moody, Commissioner Steven Freshman, Chair Excused: James Donnelly, Commissioner Roxanne Foster, Vice Chair 2. CHANGES TO THE ORDER OF THE AGENDA Jessica Wallner noted that due to the absence of Commissioner Donnelly and Vice Chair Foster, Item 5.2a. Transportation Subcommittee Report, would be tabled until the July 26 Senior Advisory Commission meeting. 3. "FOR THE GOOD OF THE TOWN" There were no speakers. 4.0 ITEMS FOR CONSIDERATION/ ACTION 4.1 Consider approval of the Summary of Actions from the January 25, 2023 Senior Advisory Commission Special Meeting. MOTION BY COMMISSIONER HENDRA, SECOND BY COMMISSIONER MOODY, TO APPROVE THE SUMMARY OF ACTIONS OF THE JANUARY 25, 2023 SENIOR ADVISORY COMMISISON MEETING. DocuSign Envelope ID: 46CC93E5-317D-4EDC-87F3-9447EE4F0786 MOTION CARRIED 3-0-0 REPORTS AND PRESENTATIONS 5.2 Town and Senior Center Updates Jessica Wallner provided updates related to the Town, and highlighted current and upcoming programs and activities offered at the Senior Center. Ms. Wallner shared the Commission Recruitment flyer information as well as highlighted the Emergency Planning Tips and Resources handout, which will be made available to all at the Senior Center when finalized. Ms. Wallner responded to questions from the Commissioners regarding the topics discussed in the updates, as well as ideas for the showcasing of Seniors at the 41h of July Parade, and suggestions for the Emergency Planning Tips and Resources and feedback on the Lend -a -Hand event. Commissioner's Reports and Comments Commissioner Hendra shared that she appreciated having the Senior Advisory Commission showcased separately in their own car with signage to provide more distinction and more recognition for our senior population.. Commissioner Moody inquired about the Lend A Hand event statistics regarding outreach and suggested opportunities for messaging, and advertising in order to get more participation. Commissioner Moody provided updates regarding her role in the Social Connections Subcommittee, highlighting that its mission is to create shared possible opportunities for multi -generational interaction to promote health and wellness. She highlighted upcoming programs which incorporate multi- generational approach including the Senior Variety Show. Commissioner Moody shares the role with Commissioner Hendra in the Advocacy Subcommittee, in which the mission is to inform, support, and care for aging population by providing opportunities for centralized resources and publications for older adults. Commissioner Moody reported she met with Jenn Starnes, the Town's Public Information Officer, regarding opportunities for reaching out to older adults. One suggestion is to utilize the Live Locally monthly subscription newsletter as a tool for advertising senior programs. 2 DocuSign Envelope ID: 46CC93E5-317D-4EDC-87F3-9447EE4F0786 In her role as liaison to the Planning Commission, Commissioner Moody briefed the Commission that at the last meeting, they discussed the ADU proposals and amendments to the ADUS to comply with state law zoning ordinance. Chair Freshman reported on the Gathering Spaces Subcommittee. As liaison to the Parks, Recreation and Arts Commission, he provided updates regarding plans for the Town Green, and upgrades to provide a safe environment in Town. Chair Freshman provided an update on items discussed at the Parks, Recreation and Arts Commission and Town Council meetings in his role as liaison in both. The Parks Recreation and Arts Commission presented a mid -year Capital Improvement Project update. There was a presentation from the Alamo Municipal Advisory Council regarding the barn on the property and suggestions for repurposing the wood to build a new structure. He provided updates on the Diablo Vista Park renovation design concept, the skate park and the goal to preserve the theme of the snake park. Regarding cultural arts program, he shared the Bound for Books public art benches are coming out this summer. In his role as Town Council liaison, he discussed the Downtown Master Plan approval for the design phase of Linda Mesa and Church Streets as well as projects at the Village Theatre. The Housing element has been submitted to the state, and Town staff is reviewing recommendations. The CIP culvert replacement on diablo road was completed ahead of schedule. The purchase of 282 Front Street Resolutions were adopted at the last meeting. He noted that April is National Volunteer Recognition Month. 6.
