Creating Community through
People, Arts, Parks & Programs
STRENGTHEN COMMUNITY IMAGE AND SENSE OF PLACE
Summer is quickly approaching, and the Town has been busy with various projects.
Maintenance has been conducted at both dog parks at Hap Magee Ranch Park, including
cleaning the drinking fountains and addressing turf areas with potholes. The Town also
fertilized the large dog park using organic fertilizer. In addition, there was a new refrigerator
installed in the Swain House and consolidated furniture and electronics at the Cottage house.
At Montair School, signs were reinstalled on the fencing following the installation of new
fencing by the School District along with a new bench installed. Additionally, at Sycamore
Valley Park, a bench was resurfaced, sanded, and stained, as well as two benches at
Greenbrook School.
At Osage Station Park, six drinking fountains were repaired, 39 memorial roses were replanted,
and two areas of the creek bank were stabilized following damage caused by excessive winter
rains. As part of the creek project, 12 cubic yards of tree branches were removed to help
minimize future erosion. Lastly, graffiti was removed from the men’s public bathrooms at Oak
Hill Park and Diablo Vista Park.
STRENGTHEN SAFETY & SECURITY
Construction of the new playground at Oak Hill Park continues to progress very well and it remains on
track to open this summer! Bi-weekly playground inspections are ongoing at Montair School, Osage
Station Park, Hap Magee Ranch Park, Sycamore Valley Park, and Diablo Vista Park, ensuring the safety
of all Town-maintained play structures. Monthly cleaning and grooming of the synthetic field at Diablo
Vista Park were also completed.
Decomposed granite was added to low spots in the pathway at Hap Magee Ranch Park near the Cottage
and first aid kits in the Cottage, Swain house, and Magee house have been restocked.

At the final meeting, the DYC said goodbye to seven graduating seniors and welcomed twelve new members for the 2023-2024 school year. The graduating seniors gave their advice to the new members which consisted of making sure to get involved as much as possible, really express your ideas, and to ultimately have fun.
PROVIDE RECREATIONAL EXPERIENCES
On Thursday, May 11 almost 50 seniors took a cruise on the Sacramento River. They sailed
past Old Sacramento’s famous historical sites, including the Delta King, the I Street Bridge, the Tower Bridge, and the Air Force Docks. The seniors also had a chance to explore Old Town
Sacramento before the cruise.
Adult softball came to an end in the month of May. 13 teams played on Monday and Thursday nights. Adult softball will be taking a break for the summer as the turf at Sycamore Valley

On May 20, the Cultural Arts team hosted
an Art in the Park day on the Town Green for kids ages 5-10 years old and their
families. Kids enjoyed making messy

and toy cars to paint. Fun was had by all in this relaxing atmosphere making
artwork in the park!
PARKS MAKE LIFE BETTER
The Facilities Management Team took
in 81 picnics for the month of May. Among the most popular parks are Hap
