Meeting Summary
April 13, 2023
1. CALL TO ORDER
The regular meeting of the Danville Design Review Board was called to order at 5:00
p.m., at the Town Offices, 500 La Gonda Way, Danville, CA
Board Attendance: Mark Belotz, Robert Combs, Afshan Hamid, Kevin Wong
Absent: Lou Palandrani, Chris Trujillo
Staff Attendance: Riley Anderson -Barrett, David Crompton
2. CHANGES TO THE ORDER OF THE AGENDA - None
3. FOR THE GOOD OF THE TOWN
Juan Venegas discussed that the developer of this project should be required to hire
contractors that provide healthcare and training for their employees.
Jeff Stone responded that as the developer they do provide healthcare and are
working towards providing training programs.
4. ACTION ITEMS
4.1 Consider approval of the March 30, 2023 Meeting Notes - Approved
5. DESIGN REVIEW ITEMS
5.1 Review and approve the final building permit and landscape plans and details
for a previously approved 50-unit senior condominium development at 359 &
375 West El Pintado (Project Planner: David Crompton).
David Crompton, Chief of Planning, presented the staff report.
The applicant and architect, Jeff Stone, and Philip Hyndman, presented the
project and answered questions from Design Review Board members.
Design Review Board members spoke praise of the project and brought up
concern that plants within the southern facing metal planters will quickly die
and that residential balconies will appear cluttered if not properly screened.
Decision: The Design Review Board recommended approval of the project with
the caveat that the privacy screens between balconies will be raised, Town staff
will work with the developer to eliminate the concern of dying plants, CC&Rs
will include language regarding eliminating clutter on residential balconies, and
pin oaks will be used for screenage.
