Agenda Item #: 8.1
PUD23-0001
Dear Honorable Council Members:
Janice and I have lived at 1056 Westridge Ave. since 1986 and consider this neighborhood, and
in particular this street, to be a hidden gem in the Danville community and is one of the reasons
that we have no plans on leaving. Being a narrow, tree lined street, Westridge Ave. has an
intimate feel in the neighborhood that is popular with families walking with their children, walkers
with their dogs, strollers such as us just meandering down the street. We have no issue with
rezoning the properties at 1065 and 1069 Westridge Ave. from A-2 General Agriculture to P-1
Planned Unit Development. However, after reading the Administrative Staff Report 8.1 and
seeing under the Evaluation and Discussion section, "the applicant and owner of 1069
Westridge Ave. has the intention to subdivide their property using Senate Bill 9," opens
the door to development and has us objecting to the rezoning proposal.
Additional homes on these two properties will further erode (Red Hawk was the start) the
intimate neighborhood that we all enjoy .
1. Ingress/egress to subdivided 1065 and 1069 Westridge Ave. properties.
a. How will access be provided for the additional homes? Widening the current
easement further encroaching on the two properties, 1063 and 1071?
b. Through Red Hawk, thus increasing traffic on Wingfield Ct.and subsequently to
Midland Ave?
2. Increased traffic due to additional homes and potential ADU's.
a. Westridge Ave., in particular, is a narrow street, and the safety of walkers and
bicyclists will be in jeopardy.
b. Traffic on Midland, which has already experienced increased traffic due to Red
Hawk, has affected many of us, especially those families that live on Midland.
c. Driving on Westridge Ave., when cars are parked on both sides of the curb,
further narrows the street to a one lane road. Increased traffic will make it worse.
3. Additional flooding issues.
a. The neighborhood has already experienced flooding for quite a few years. Will a
new development add to an existing problem?
4. Years ago, Native American remains were found at 1047 Westridge Ave. Will this be the
case for a new development and what action would be taken?
This is not an issue to be taken lightly. Many people will be affected by this decision. Please
give this serious thought and reject the proposal.
Thank you for taking the time to read this comment.
Sincerely,
Kevin and Janice Tamaki
