To Danville Council members:
The Bay Area housing crisis is longstanding and must be addressed with creativity and flexibility, I agree.
Several of our neighbors have ADUs, which appear to be reasonable, beneficial additions.
However, the scale of the current proposal for 1065 and 1069 Westridge Avenue raises safety and traffic
congestion concerns for me.
• Westridge is a relatively narrow street and often requires patience and curtesy to
navigate safely. The street is not wide enough for two cars to pass in opposite directions
when cars are parked on both sides of the street. Also, Westridge has no sidewalks but
is a popular street for walkers and dog walkers. Drivers must routinely pull to the side to
avoid delivery vehicles, garbage/recycling trucks, pedestrians and animals. If cars are
parked on both sides of the street near the corner of Westridge and Wembly, garbage
trucks cannot turn onto Westridge at the corner. With increased traffic from additional
residents, it is easy to foresee more traffic/safety challenges particularly at the driveway
easement, especially when the street is lined with many more garbage and recycling
cans.
Thank you for your consideration.
