Do not click on links or open attachments unless you recognize the sender and know the content is safe. Dear Mayor Storer, Vice Mayor Stepper and Councilmembers Arnerich, Fong, and Morgan, Thank you for your proclamation Recognizing February 2023 as Black History Month. On the same day as your proclamation, February 7, the Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors adopted a resolution proclaiming February 12-18 as African American Mental Health Awareness Week, proclaiming February 15 as Miles Hall Day of Remembrance, and proclaiming March 8 as Tyrell Wilson Day of Remembrance. March 8 is Tyrell's birthday. I ask the Danville Town Council to join the County in recognizing March 8 as Tyrell Wilson Day of Remembrance. I ask you to make this recognition publicly as soon as possible. The pain of Tyrell's tragic death in Danville two years ago is still vivid. It is Danville's part in the national epidemic of the killing of black people by police. We must not forget this injustice. We must continue to say his name and remember his humanity. Your recognition of March 8 as Tyrell Wilson Day of Remembrance will help our Town to do that. And I ask you to go beyond matching the County's proclamation of March 8, 2023 at Tyrell Wilson Day of Remembrance to proclaim March 8 as an annual Tyrell Wilson Day of Remembrance and February 9 as an annual Laudemer Arboleda Day of Remembrance. Such annual remembrances would be a fitting way to remind ourselves of these two senseless fatal police shootings of young men of color in Danville. Sincerely, ~~~~~~~~ las Doug Leich leichd@gmail.com 244 Pulido Road, Danville 1
