STRENGTHEN COMMUNITY IMAGE AND SENSE OF PLACE
The Town of Danville received historic rain fall on December 31 and into January, resulting
in significant response efforts throughout the community. Crews worked tirelessly to remove
silt from flooded streets, clear drainage facilities, remove debris from trash racks to prevent
flooding, respond to tree failures, clean drain inlets, fill potholes and generally do everything
necessary to restore the Town back to pre-storm conditions.
Beyond the storm response, other maintenance activities continued at all of our parks. At Hap Magee Ranch Park, a drinking fountain was cleared of debris and six benches were sanded and stained in the small dog park. Two picnic tables were sanded and stained by the Sack Shack at Diablo Vista Park, while another five were sanded and stained and three picnic tables repaired at Osage Station Park. One yard of debris was removed from the All Wars Memorial area due to the storms and graffiti was removed from the men’s public bathroom at Oak Hill Park. Graffiti was also removed from a bench at Greenbrook School and two yards of debris were removed from Danville South Park. There was one yard of tree limbs removed from Baldwin School that
had come down from the winter storms.
STRENGTHEN SAFETY & SECURITY
Bi-weekly playground inspections continue at Osage Station Park, Diablo Vista Park, Sycamore Valley Park, Oak Hill Park, Danville South Park, Hap Magee Ranch Park, and Montair School. Cleaning and adjusting of tennis and pickleball court nets was completed at Monte Vista High School, Diablo Vista Park, and Osage Station Park. Excessive leaves and ball field mix was removed from the play area and sidewalks at Diablo Vista Park and Osage Station Park. Ruts were repaired in the decomposed granite track and silt was removed off the driveway near the play area at Baldwin School. At Danville South Park, glass was removed following vandalism and a bench was repaired in the picnic area.

PROVIDE ENVIRONMENTAL RESOURCES
A significant amount of tree worked occurred during this last month, such as removal of two
truckloads of tree limbs from the winter storms and the removal of one tree at Oak Hill Park. Additionally, four redwood trees were pruned at Greenbrook School, and one redwood tree
was removed along with another ten being pruned at Osage Station Park. A fallen tree near
the Sycamore Valley Park pond was removed, and field mix was removed from the sidewalks
near field six. Shrubs were removed and 15 yards of mulch were installed in the shrub areas
behind the 80’ ball diamond at Diablo Vista Park. Straw wattle was installed along the Hap Magee Ranch Park pathways to minimize erosion, while all drain inlets were cleaned and 14
crape myrtle trees were pruned.
PROVIDE RECREATIONAL EXPERIENCES
The Danville Senior Center took a trip to Chase Center for the buzzer beater Warriors Game
against the Grizzlies. 48 participants, ranging in age from 7-84 enjoyed a charter bus to San Francisco, a pregame experience and a thrilling game that resulted in a win.
SUPPORT ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT
The Danville Senior Center celebrated the holidays with a Holiday Bruncheon, catered by
Simple Elegance Catering. Seniors received puzzle or book gifts from the community’s Senior
Giving Tree donations, delivered by the ever-popular Auggie the Acorn.

INCREASE CULTURAL UNITY
On Friday January 20, the Village Theatre
hosted another Classical Musical Corner with Operatic Singer, Sara Couden. The
event was from 7pm to 8pm and featured
Lauren Jeannin on Violin along with
accompaniment on the harpsichord.
On Friday, January 27 at 6pm, the Town held it’s first ever Trivia Night at the
Village Theatre. 13 teams of four were
registered for the event. There were two
40-minute rounds of questions, featuring
pop culture, music, California and Town of Danville history.
FOSTER HUMAN DEVELOPMENT
On Saturday, January 21 the Art Gallery
hosted a reception for the newest
exhibit, From Sand to Silicon Chip: New Technology in Clay, curated by John Toki.
There were a lot of people in attendance
and the artists were all introduced and
each of them explained how they used
technology to create their artwork in the exhibit. This exhibit is a first of its
kind for the Art Gallery. There’s a lot of
information on how technology employs
clay and a handful of stunning pieces that
have been in museums across the country.

PARKS MAKE LIFE BETTER
The Town of Danville held a Winter Break Camp from January 3 to January 6 at Oak Hill
Park. Even though the rain was in full effect, children had a safe and exciting place to spend the week. Staff lead indoor games and rain-themed arts and crafts. Staff capitalized on any
moments of sunshine with full use of the paved trails and playground. The week was topped
off with the feature film James and the Giant Peach.
