ADDITIONAL COMMENTS TO IMPROVE THE HEALTH, WELL-BEING,
SAFETY, AND LIVABILITY OF ADULTS AND SENIORS LIVING
Additional Comments
•Enforce leash laws at our parks
•Love, love our parks -you are doing a lot right
already -just keep it up -and please, please don't
over build like Lafayette
•Please put in pickle ball courts! Great way for
seniors to just show up and get active. No fee
please.
•A "telephone tree/wellness check" to contact
seniors who live alone
•Add support and/or social groups of like minds to
create a network of friendship alliances
•Lunch programs with local restaurants to
encourage community events for seniors
ADDITIONAL COMMENTS TO IMPROVE THE HEALTH, WELL-BEING,
SAFETY, AND LIVABILITY OF ADULTS AND SENIORS LIVING
Transportation
•Traffic enforcement
•Monitor parking lots for our safety
•Hartz Ave is a key... make it a permanent car-free
place to go (walk and sit) and watch the world
•Better lit streets and repaired sidewalks
•Make sure that sidewalks and crosswalks are safe
and well-maintained (well-lit, no trip hazards)
•Have either/both for rent/for free use of readily
accessible mobility personal transports (electric
wheelchairs, walkers) strategically placed in
Danville community
•Watch congestion downtown
•Partnership with senior living communities,
shuttle/ride-share services and volunteer local
drivers to improve transportation access
ADDITIONAL COMMENTS TO IMPROVE THE HEALTH, WELL-BEING,
SAFETY, AND LIVABILITY OF ADULTS AND SENIORS LIVING
Programs
•A volunteer consulting program where people of
all ages can make their skills available on a
mentoring/consulting basis
•An info workshop on Prop 19 and other new
legislation relevant to seniors would be helpful
•Add drop-in class options for people who can only
attend one or a few classes due to traveling
•Offer a sliding fee scale so lower income residents
can afford to participate
•Life coaching for seniors
•More emergency training for seniors if the are
stuck in their homes.
ADDITIONAL COMMENTS TO IMPROVE THE HEALTH, WELL-BEING,
SAFETY, AND LIVABILITY OF ADULTS AND SENIORS LIVING
Community
•Encourage development of affordable senior
living facilities with varying degrees of assistance,
so aging seniors can remain in the community
that has been their home
•From what I can tell, the town seems to have a lot
on offer for seniors. I feel the town needs to work
more in creating spaces for adolescents which
don't revolve around sports
•Create a Mission Statement expressing support
and tolerance for people of all ages, gender, color,
religious preferences political persuasions, and
ethnic diversity.
•Better training for our police in defusing
situations like the Arboleda & Wilson incidents;
better police protection
•Placing light, prefilled emergency backpacks by
their door/walkers so in the event of evacuation
they can grab and go
•The pre-packaged ADU program is terrific
•Need for an emergency response plan tailored to
meet the needs of seniors, especially those with
limited mobility, minimal local family support and
chronic health issues
•We need the Town to take a stand and support
the value of all residents, all races and ethnicities,
all ages. The political and social intolerance in
Danville has gotten much worse over the past
several years and does not represent the values
and beliefs of many people here in Danville.
NEXT STEPS
NEXT STEPS
•Share findings from the survey and Age-Friendly Baseline matrix with the Senior Advisory Commission
•Conduct intercept events to collect additional input from residents and community members on age-friendly services, needs and priorities.
•Integrate findings into the development of the Strategic Plan Framework
