STRENGTHEN COMMUNITY IMAGE AND SENSE OF PLACE
With winter quickly approaching, the sports field and dog park moratorium began on
December 1, with the fields scheduled to re-open on March 1 (weather permitting). During this
time, we will renovate the dog park, complete irrigation repairs and other various projects and,
most importantly, give these heavily used fields some time to recuperate before another busy
year of use. Other improvements continue to be completed, including installing an electric
water heater pump in the Swain House, weekly preparation of the bocce ball courts for league play, and repairing a gate at Oak Hill Park.
STRENGTHEN SAFETY & SECURITY
After we “fell back” for daylight savings time, timers were adjusted Town-wide for pathway
lights, tennis and basketball courts and outdoor restrooms. Monthly synthetic turf cleaning
and grooming occurred at Sycamore Valley Park and Diablo Vista Park, as well as weekly
cleaning, blowing off, resetting center strap anchors, and adjusting or replacing nets on tennis
and pickleball courts at Osage Station Park, Diablo Vista Park, and Monte Vista High School.
Bi-weekly playground inspections continue at all Town-maintained playgrounds. At the
Diablo Vista Park playground, the broken trolley play feature was removed after falling into
disrepair due to age and in advance of the new playground being installed. Additional safety
efforts include removal of broken glass at Danville South Park, potholing sports fields, and
completing repairs to header board on the pathway at Baldwin Elementary.

and exercise, free-time fun in positive spaces, and socializing and learning in a gathering.

FACILITATE COMMUNITY PROBLEM SOLVING
The Danville Senior Center offered a class in conjunction with a local business owner called
“Tips and Resources for Single Seniors” on Wednesday, November 16. These quarterly educational opportunities provide important resources for seniors living alone and
continuing to successfully age in place.
PROVIDE ENVIRONMENTAL RESOURCES
As part of our ongoing water conservation efforts, all irrigation controllers have been turned
off or significantly reduced due to the cooler weather and periodic rain that we have received. Proactive irrigation inspections and repairs continue, including main line repairs at Diablo
Vista, Oak Hill and Sycamore Valley Parks, and lateral line repairs at Danville South and
Osage Station Parks. Straw wattle has been installed at several sites for erosion control, and silt
fencing was also installed at Green Valley Elementary. Ongoing tree maintenance continues,
including pruning 12 trees at Hap Magee Ranch Park, six at Greenbrook Elementary, six trees and two shrubs at Danville South Park, and six trees at Osage Station Park.
PROVIDE RECREATIONAL EXPERIENCES
Santa’s Mailbox has opened, and Santa has already received so many letters! Children can let the big jolly man
know what they want for Christmas and drop off their
letters at the Danville Community Center and Danville
Library during regular business hours from November 28
– December 9 to receive a letter back by December 24.
The Danville Senior Center Craft Corner had
another sold out day of crafting. This season,
they decorated foam cones into tabletop
holiday trees. Participants enjoyed the festive-
themed craft and great company. Looking forward to more craft corners in 2023!
The Danville Senior Center took a trip to San Francisco to see the Temptations-themed show “Ain’t Too Proud.” 36 attendees
enjoyed a charter bus trip into San Francisco and a toe-tapping
show! It was an evening to remember!

INCREASE CULTURAL UNITY
On November 13, the Village Theatre had
the ultimate tribute to Linda Ronstadt with “Ronstadt Revival”. The band performed a
2-hour set to a sold-out Theatre.
SUPPORT ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT
On November 4, in collaboration with the
Danville Senior Center, the Town hosted the very first Murder Mystery Event. The
Murder Mystery Co. sent two actors to
perform a unique show themed around a
masquerade ball. Guests arrived dressed
in their finest most glamorous attire along with their own masks to attend
an evening complete with catered food
followed by the show in which one-
person from each table was a suspect
and everyone had to figure out who committed the crime.
