HomeMy WebLinkAbout111522-05.1 DAN17ILLE CALIFORNIA PROCLAMATION UNITED AGAINST HATE WEEK NOVEMBER 13-19, 2022 WHEREAS, the United States is a nation of immigrants, whose strength comes from its diversity, and WHEREAS, the goal of United Against Hate Week is to draw local residents, students, school, civic,faith and business leaders together to raise awareness about how to stop hate and promote inclusion; and WHEREAS, the Constitution of the United States confers equality on all individuals, regardless of race, gender, orientation, religion, or political beliefs; and WHEREAS, education, compassion, and cooperation are key to unlocking understanding and embracing differences between people, and WHEREAS, the Town of Danville does not and will not tolerate discrimination, hate crimes, harassment, or assault against individuals because of their race, religion, ethnicity, national origin, disability, gender, gender identity, or sexual orientation; and WHEREAS, the Town of Danville seeks to join other communities around the state, in recognizing United Against Hate Week as an important step in bridging division, as well as strengthening our communities; now, therefore it be RESOLVED, that the Danville Town Council does hereby proclaim the week of November 13-19, 2022, as United Against Hate Week, and recognizes that it is an important step in bridging division and healing communities.
