SUMMARY OF ACTIONS
JULY 27, 2022
1. CALL TO ORDER
4.1
The special meeting of the Senior Advisory Commission was called to order by Chair
Hendra at 4:00 pm. The meeting was conducted by teleconference only.
1.1 Roll Call
Yvonne Nouri, Administrative Assistant, conducted the roll call for attendance

1.2 Announcements
Yvonne Nouri, Administrative Assistant, provided information regarding the format
of the meeting and instructions for public comment.

4.0 ITEMS FOR CONSIDERATION/ ACTION
4.1 Approval of the Summary of Actions from the April 27, 2022 Senior Advisory
Commission Special Meeting. Vice Chair Freshman pointed out a correction
that the five domains of livability needed to be updated to reflect the current
identified domains.

FRESHMAN, TO APPROVE THE SUMMARY OF ACTIONS OF THE APRIL 27,
2022 SENIOR ADVISORY COMMISISON MEETING WITH THE AMENDMENT
OF THE FIVE DOMAINS OF LIVABILITY.
MOTION CARRIED 5-0-0
4.2 Selection of the Senior Advisory Commission Chair
Ms. Martinez discussed the role and responsibilities as outlined in the staff
report. The Commission nominated Vice Chair Freshman to the Chair
position.
MOTION BY COMMISSIONER MOODY, SECOND BY COMMISSIONER
FOSTER, TO SELECT VICE CHAIR FRESHMAN TO THE CHAIR POSITION
OF THE SENIOR ADVISORY COMMISSION.
Motion carried: 5-0-0
4.3 Selection of the Senior Advisory Commission Vice Chair
Ms. Martinez discussed the role and responsibilities as outlined in the staff
report. The Commission nominated Commissioner Foster to the Vice Chair
position.

SELECT COMMISSIONER FOSTER TO THE VICE CHAIR POSITION OF
THE SENIOR ADVISORY COMMISSION.

4.4 Consider the approval of Senior Advisory Commission meeting dates for 2023.
Leah Martinez highlighted the 2023 Senior Advisory Commission dates as
outlined in the staff report.
MOTION BY VICE CHAIR FRESHMAN, SECOND BY CHAIR HENDRA, TO
APPROVE THE SENIOR ADVISORY COMMISSION MEETING DATES FOR
2022,/2023.
MOTION CARRIED: 5-0-0
4.5 Update of Senior Advisory Commission Liaison Assignments
Ms. Martinez highlighted the Liaison Committee Assignment Summary roles
as shown in Item 4.5, Exhibit 1, and requested the Commissioners review their
current assignments. Ms. Martinez also noted that the Bicycle Advisory
Commission is now an added Commission. The Commission discussed changes
in the Primary and Alternate positions of the current assignments and the
Liaison Committee Assignment Summary was updated to reflect these changes.
There was consensus to update the liaison assignments as discussed.

5.0 REPORTS AND PRESENTATIONS
5.1 Leah Martinez provided background of the May 20 workshop in which the
designation and procedures of the Senior Advisory Commission
Subcommittees was discussed. The Commission discussed the subcommittees
and selected their preferences.

5.2 Town and Senior Center Updates
Leah Martinez reported on Town and Senior Center Updates and the
Recreation, Arts and Community Services Report Activity Report, highlighting
information regarding programming, staff updates, the senior meals lunch
program, senior variety show, activities, trips and other special events at the
Danville Senior Center. Ms. Martinez also provided updates regarding Town
and housing program elements. Ms. Martinez noted that September is
National Senior Center month.
5.3 Activity Report
Ms. Martinez provided updates from the Recreation, Arts and Community
Services June -July Activity Report
5.4 Commissioner's Report and Comments
Chair Hendra reported on the Age Friendly Road Map implementation and
shared the Commission is ready to move forward for services to the
Community. She provided feedback from her walk in the Town as part of the
Master Plan to assess areas of improvements for the Town, one being raised
sidewalks, which was brought back and shared at the March meeting. Chair
Hendra also commented on the Commissions presence at the Farmers Market
and shared that it is an opportunity to have more people increase engagement
in our programming. She commented that the Commissions participation in
the 4th of July parade was a bonding experience. She also thanked the Senior
Center staff for their efforts in supporting the Commission.
Commissioner Moody reported as liaison to the Planning Commission on the
different development proposals on which the Commission is actively
working, and shared that the Faz and 375 and 369 W. El Pintado developments
were approved.
Commissioner Freshman reported as liaison to the Parks Commission that
pickle ball at Osage Station Park is currently a very active topic and provided

comprehensive information regarding the makeover of the playground at Oak
Hill Park.
Commissioner Foster thanked Chair Hendra for her leadership and her
participation in the 4th of July parade and commented on the excellent presentation
at the Senior Center Buzz Session All Things Free at the Danville Library on July 26.
Commissioner Donnelly provided information on Way to Go Contra Costa
County, which provides contact information and extensive comprehensive
resources available from Mobility Matters under contract with the Area Agency
on Aging. He shared that the County Council in-person meetings will transition
to hybrid meetings and shared information on the processes for that
implementation. He provided information regarding the impact from
workgroups being formed by different agencies for implementation of the Master
Plan draft program for the November 17 conference.
The entire Commission thanked Chair Hendra for her leadership and her
commitment and enthusiasm as Chair of the Senior Advisory Commission this
past year.
Councilmember Stepper complimented the Commission on the Age Friendly
Road Map and thanked and expressed admiration to the Commission for their
leadership.
6. ADJOURNMENT
The special meeting of the Danville Senior Advisory Commission was adjourned
at 5:23 p.m.
