Arts Advisory Board - Special Meeting Meeting Summary July 13, 2022 - Draft 1. CALL TO ORDER The special meeting of the Danville Arts Advisory Board was called to order by Chair Schell at 4:00 p.m. The meeting was conducted by teleconference only. 1.1 Roll Call Administrative Assistant Gail Massagli conducted the roll call for attendance: Present: Amy Schell, Chair Charles Neary, Board Member Jane Joyce, Board Member Kim Bowles, Board Member Amelia Liptak, Youth Member Excused: Haley Johnson, Vice Chair and Amelia Liptak, Youth Member 1.2 Announcements Administrative Assistant Gail Massagli provided information regarding the format of the meeting and instructions for public comment. 2. PUBLIC COMMENTS There were no public comments. 3. CHANGES TO THE ORDER OF THE AGENDA There were no changes to the order of the agenda. 4. ACTION ITEMS Arts Advisory Board Meeting Summary July 13, 2022 Page 2 2 4.1 Consider approval of the Meeting Summary from the May 11, 2022, Arts Advisory Board Special Meeting MOTION BY BOARD MEMBER JOYCE, SECOND BY BOARD MEMBER BOWLES, TO APPROVE THE MEETING SUMMARY OF THE MAY 11, 2022, ARTS ADVISORY BOARD SPECIAL MEETING MOTION CARRIED 4–0-0–2; VICE CHAIR JOHNSON AND YOUTH MEMBER LIPTAK EXCUSED 4.2 Selection of the Arts Advisory Board Chair MOTION BY BOARD MEMBER BOWLES, SECOND BY BOARD MEMBER NEARY, TO NOMINATE VICE CHAIR JOHNSON TO THE POSTION OF CHAIR OF THE ARTS ADVISORY BOARD BEGINNING SEPTEMBER 14,2022 MOTION CARRIED 4-0-0-2; VICE CHAIR JOHNSON AND YOUTH MEMBER LIPTAK EXCUSED 4.3 Selection of the Arts Advisory Board Vice Chair MOTION BY BOARD MEMBER BOWLES, SECOND BY BOARD MEMBER NEARY, TO NOMINATE BOARD MEMBER JOYCE TO THE POSITION OF VICE CHAIR OF THE ARTS ADVISORY BOARD BEGINNING SEPTMBER 14, 2022 MOTION CARRIED 4-0-0-2; VICE CHAIR JOHNSON AND YOUTH MEMBER LIPTAK EXCUSED 4.4 Consider approval for Town Office Public Art Mural Submission The Arts Advisory Board deferred the approval of the Town Office Public Art Mural Submission to be brought back to the Board at a later date. 5. REPORTS AND PRESENTATIONS 5.1 Town Updates Recreation Superintendent Jessica Wallner updated the Board on recent and current events that took place within the Recreation Department, Village Theatre, and Art Arts Advisory Board Meeting Summary July 13, 2022 Page 3 3 Gallery. She announced the Tri-Valley art public exhibit, “Picture This” will be displayed from July 16, 2022, to September 30, 2022, together with the surrounding cities of San Ramon, Dublin, Pleasanton, Livermore, and Danville. The Town of Danville will have 10 separate frames on display located around the Town. 5.2 Board Member Reports and Comments Board Member Bowles shared an idea for a future art project to promote the diversified cultures in the community involving shops, performances, demonstrations, and community involvement. Board Member Joyce shared she enjoyed attending Music in the Park on June 25, 2022. Board Member Neary shared the Museum of San Ramon Valley’s annual auction was taking place and available online. Chair Schell inquired about art programing, revisiting the idea of open studios, and an update about the brass acorns. 6.
