Gail - I am writing in regards to the proposal to add ten additional pickle ball courts to Osage park. This is on the agenda for 8/10/22, item 4.1. My family and I live directly behind the tennis courts/pickleball courts on El Capitan. When we moved in 8 years ago, we chose this house due to the proximity to the schools and wonderful park. While we enjoy the noise of children playing and tennis, the pickleball court noise has been disruptive and very upsetting. When we sit outside to enjoy dinner with our extended family the pickleball noise is jarring and unpleasant. When I heard of the potential to expand, my heart sunk. The idea of more pickleball courts is extremely upsetting and so concerning to our neighborhood. We love where we live and collectively agree that more pickleball courts will ruin our outdoor experience in our own back yard and be extremely disruptive and concerning to the safety of our children. The safety of our children will be compromised as large amounts of people, both residents of Danville and non-residents, will be flooding the park daily during school hours. This impacts for Charlotte Wood middle school and John Baldwin elementary. In addition, traffic will substantially increase throughout the neighborhood and the overflow parking will be rampant in the surrounding neighborhood. Lastly, the negative impact of pickleball noise is real. with no time restrictions and the additional courts, the noise will ruin our neighborhoods outdoor experience. The community this directly impacts does not want the noise, nor excessive amounts of pickleball courts in their backyard. Sincerely, Laura Reimers
