Knowing that you are getting countless emails and calls deeply concerned about the noise pollution the new courts will cause, the traffic that will come with building the largest collection of pickleball courts in the state of California, and the simple safety of our kids in Danville Station, with 3 schools within 1 mile of the proposed site, all of them localized with no bussing, kids walk/bike to school almost exclusively….I am going to take a different tact, I am going to ask why this project is even necessary to begin with. Other than Saturday morning from 10am to 12pm the 2 courts in Osage park seem to be ample. I live within eye-contact of the courts and have been monitoring usage since this proposed project became known to the neighborhood. They are used semi-regularly but there is never a line. People are almost never waiting, and if they do it is a very short period of time. Now, this may certainly change with the new courts because you will be creating a destination venue for all pickleball players in the entire Bay Area. The news of the most courts anywhere in California will travel quickly. What about at Crow Canyon Country Club? It is less than 2 miles from Osage park. I have attached a screen cap of their court reservations. Lightly used would be an understatement save Saturday mornings. As an aside I will point out that the greatest proponent of this project, Ben Crockett, is a full tennis-member at Crow Canyon and has access to their 4 lighted and sound-proofed courts. If the wait-time is too overwhelming for him at Osage Park, as he has implied. He has other options. But not everyone does, and I understand that. But I want you to understand the 2 courts already in place seem to be enough. The 2 courts that the neighborhood of Danville Station went along with and did not complain about because it was the height of a global pandemic and it was a way for the older community of Danville to get out and move around. But 10 additional courts? Creating the largest collection of courts in California? At a time the pandemic is waning and people are going back to work and going back to their lives? The 2 existing courts already seem ample outside of Saturday morning. The additional courts would destroy a neighborhood with noise pollution, put countless more cars onto our roads and put the safely of our kids in danger as they walk/ride to school. But worst of all? It would be a complete waste of tax-payer dollars. Thanks for your time and consideration on this matter. Ross Miller.
