Dear Parks, Recreation and Arts Commission,
-
I am part of the large group of avid pickleball players who play almost daily at the 2 courts at Osage Station Park. There are usually at least 8 and as many as 25 players waiting to
play. Of course, I would like to see more courts at Osage Station park!
I have a few suggestions:
1. Courts should not be placed between the tennis courts and the parking lot. Pickleball can be loud - it makes more noise than tennis. Placing the new courts here would create noise
for the houses that back up to the parking lot. Also, the current grass covered hill in this space creates a barrier from the heat of the parking lot.
2. Courts should be arranged facing north to south, the same way the current courts and tennis courts are arranged. This is the classic configuration - it keeps the sun to the side of
the players, not directly in their eyes.
3. 12 courts is an ambitious number - I play at Concord's pickleball courts at Willow pass recreation area once a week. There are 14 courts here and they are sometimes full, but not
always, and Concord is a much larger community than Danville. They are often used for classes by teachers not affiliated with the Concord parks and rec department.
Thank you for considering adding Pickleball Courts at Osage Station - they will be very much appreciated!!!!
