SENIOR ADVISORY COMMISSION
SPECIAL MEETING
SUMMARY OF ACTIONS
JANUARY 26, 2022
1. CALL TO ORDER
4.1
The special meeting of the Senior Advisory Commission was called to order by Chair
Hendra at 4:00 pm. The meeting was conducted by teleconference only.
1.1 Roll Call
Yvonne Nouri, Administrative Assistant, conducted the roll call for attendance

1.2 Announcements
Yvonne Nouri, Administrative Assistant, provided information regarding the format
of the meeting and instructions for public comment.
2. CHANGES TO THE ORDER OF THE AGENDA
There were no changes to the order of the agenda.
3. "FOR THE GOOD OF THE TOWN"
Chair Hendra welcomed Vice -Mayor Stepper as the liaison to the Commission. Vice
-Mayor Stepper shared she is pleased to be part of the Commission and shared she
thought they were doing an outstanding job.

4. ITEMS FOR CONSIDERATION/ACTION
4.1. Approval of the Summary of Actions from the October 27, 2021 Senior Advisory
Commission Special Meeting. Commissioner Foster noted that the Adjournment
time reflected of 4:00 p.m. needed to be amended.
MOTION BY COMMISSIONER DONNELLY, SECOND BY COMMISSIONER MOODY,
TO APPROVE THE SUMMARY OF ACTIONS OF THE OCTOBER 27, 2021 SENIOR
ADVISORY COMMISSION MEETING WITH THE AMENDMENT TO THE
ADJOURNMENT TIME CORRECTED TO 5:11 P.M.
MOTION CARRIED 5-0
4.2 Review and Approve Age -Friendly Roadmap
Leah Martinez provided a brief history of the establishment of the Senior Advisory
Commission in 2019 with the creation of the strategic Age Friendly Roadmap
document which encompass the five domains of livability: Transportation,
Housing, Social Connections and Community Support, Outdoor and Indoor
Facilities, and Activities and Programs. Ms. Martinez shared that the Commission
is being asked to make a recommendation to Town Council to approve and adopt
the Age -Friendly Roadmap which will allow the Commission to dive into the
prioritization stage.
Chair Hendra opened the discussion with a request for comments from the
Commissioners. Commissioners discussed the various components and provided
feedback and comments.
Staff responded to questions from the Commission and Leah reported she would
follow up with the consultants to provide more feedback. Commissioner Freshman
also asked if a motion to approve the Age -Friendly Roadmap could be made
without that specification and Leah Martinez responded it should be fine as it is
not a major change.

Chair Hendra reported that Town Council will review the document for approval.
Chair Hendra moved the Commission make a motion to recommend Town Council
adopt the Danville Age -Friendly Roadmap which should include the best practices
item as discussed above.

RECOMMENDED MODIFICATIONS FOR APPROVAL BY TOWN COUNCIL
5.1 Town and Senior Center Program Updates
Leah Martinez shared a reminder of the Town Council and Commission
Workshop on March 7 at 3:00 p.m. She updated the Commission on the five areas
of livability, as well as on some the programs and activities at the Senior Center
including the Senior Meal Program, Rec Expo on February 26, free Monday
Movies, and that in-person classes are returning. She shared that September is
National Senior Center Month. The next Variety Show will be held on September
17.
Leah Martinez responded to inquiries regarding Covid test availability which are
distributed free of charge in Supervisor Candace Anderson's office when available
-from the County. Seniors may put themselves on an interest list when the tests
become available.
Ms. Martinez responded to questions and comments from the Commission.
5.2 Commissioner's Reports and Comments
Commissioner Donnelly shared the first anniversary of the Master Plan on Aging and
the various legislative and funding activities that are happening. He reported that the
Advisory Council on Aging is conference is on the 3rd week of November.
Commissioner Foster shared that the Valley Oak Adult Day and Respite Center needs
volunteers 5 days a week from 10:30 to 2:30 and provided the website Jean@DV-fa.org
to contact the present Director.

Commissioner Freshman reported as the liaison for the Parks, Arts and Community
Services Commission on the various projects and activities the Commission is
currently working on.
Chair Hendra shared that as the Liaison to Town Council, they are working on the
Downtown Master Plan. There is a senior housing complex of 54 units on West El
Pintado that passed the Design Review Board. She shared she walked around Town
and noted some areas that are in need such as restroom facilities, and inquired
whether the Commission would be able to participate in some of the trainings that the
Police and Fire Department are going to hold on how to respond to mental health
crises.

The special meeting of the Danville Senior Advisory Commission was adjourned at
5:11 p.m.
