STRENGTHEN COMMUNITY IMAGE AND SENSE OF PLACE
Summer is here and the parks are filled with camps and being used by the public daily. Projects
such as clearing clogged sinks at the Swain house, cleaning drinking fountains in both dog
parks, potholing the large dog park, and mulching the labyrinth shrub areas at Hap Magee
Ranch Park were all completed to ensure good user experiences. Weekly cleaning of the
tennis courts at Diablo Vista Park, Monte Vista High School and Osage Station Park were also
completed, including the replacement of the net at Osage Station Park.
Two drinking fountains at Osage Station Park were adjusted and repaired for the public and
the user groups use. Planted 50 new plants and installed 20 yards of mulch in the All Wars
Memorial at Oak Hill Park as part of an ongoing enhancement project for this area. Two
replacement trees were planted and 20 cubic yards of mulch were installed to enhance the lower
planting area at Sycamore Valley Park, and one new tree was planted at Green Valley School to
provide shade for the tables.
STRENGTHEN SAFETY AND SECURITY
Playgrounds are being played on all day with summer here and bi-weekly playground
inspections continue at Hap Magee Ranch Park, Diablo Vista Park, Oak Hill Park, Osage
Station Park, Sycamore Valley Park, Danville South Park and Montair School. Decomposed

These items may also reflect how Parks Make Life Better! Parks and Recreation make lives and
communities better now and in the future by providing access to nature, outdoor space to play
and exercise, free-time fun in positive spaces, and socializing and learning in a gathering place.
PROTECT ENVIRONMENTAL RESOURCES
Irrigation checks and repairs and adjusting watering programs are being done at all park
sites. Along with repairing the mainline near the labyrinth at Hap Magee Ranch Park,
repairs to the irrigation pump at Green Valley School and replacement of an isolation valve
at the Community Center were also completed. As part of our proactive, routine irrigation
inspections, 20 repairs were completed at Osage Station Park, nine repairs at Oak Hill Park,
seven repairs at Danville South Park, 12 repairs at Baldwin School, 13 repairs at Greenbrook
School, while a 3” remote control valve was also replaced at Sycamore Valley Park.
One tree was removed, stump ground, top dressed and reseeded in the turf area at Hap
Magee Ranch Park. Additionally, four trees were removed and stump ground, and the area
was top dressed and reseeded at Green Valley School. Safety tree pruning was completed
at the Diablo Vista Park entrance and seven trees were pruned in the All-Wars Memorial.
Fertilizing to enhance the turf at Greenbrook School occurred and weekly mowing, bi-weekly
edging, and monthly weed abatement and rodent control continues in all our parks.
PROVIDE RECREATIONAL EXPERIENCES
Summer camp has begun for another year of fun and our trained staff are ready to go! Our

What would summer camp be if there weren’t fun field trips as well?!
Town of Danville summer camps have kicked off with the classic Oakland
Zoo trip, Rockin’ Jump fun and of course Chabot Space & Science Center.
Little Acorn Camp has made a return after several summers of hiatus.

learn the structure and expectations of group activity. Campers enjoy
scenic Hap Magee Ranch Park while participating in arts, crafts, and park
games. Parents are invited to join in on family fun Fridays to experience
hands-on camp activities with their campers each week.
Another Senior Center Craft Corner sold out for the 4th of July craft! Participants got to make
a rustic tabletop American flag out of painted 2 x 4 pieces. These Craft Corners have a group
