RESOLUTION NO. 28-2022
ESTABLISHING A DANVILLE YOUTH POET LAUREATE POSITION
WHEREAS, the Town of Danville created the position of Danville Poet Laureate in 2008,
as a means of furthering the role of literature in the Town; and
WHEREAS, the Town would like to further this goal and also promote literature and the
arts opportunities for youth in the community; and
WHEREAS, appointing a Danville Youth Poet Laureate, to be mentored by the Town's
Poet Laureate, is a way to further these goals; and
WHEREAS, the City Clerk will conduct a recruitment for the position according to
standard Town procedures; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that the Danville Town Council establishes the position of Danville Youth
Poet Laureate, to be filled by a high school student residing in Danville. The individual
shall be selected by the Town Council and shall serve a term of up to two years.
APPROVED by the Danville Town Council at a regular meeting on April 19, 2022, by the
following vote:
AYES: Arnerich, Fong, Morgan, Stepper, Storer
